Alright what about the 670HS version? It seems to be the same but with a 17 in screen is it any worth the extra couple inches?

basically the same laptop but with a bigger screen. up to you whether you like larger laptops or not. advantage is that there are much better 17in screen options out there and you can always DIY it.

Alright hm what about the more expensive EVOC P750DM2 model is that any worth the extra few hundred if bought from HID?

That's pretty much inferior to the MSI 16L13.  HID offers that laptop but only with a GTX 1080 which is...  Well wayyyy out of the budget you gave.

So I'd say look at the Eurocom Tornado F5 instead of the P750DM.

The P750DM is weird.  It's still pretty nice but for some reason the keyboard is awful.  The MSI has a slightly nicer screen and nicer speakers.

The P670HS does offer one unique difference.  The 75Hz display can OC to around 100Hz and is IPS as opposed to the P650 120Hz TN display.  Though the 75Hz one isn't guaranteed any specific OC.

I see it's weird how quality can go down with a next level up. I don't need a 1080 just a 1070, waitin for the ability to build a desktop to go all out aha.

I had a discussion with @D2ultima about this sometime. Isn't the 75hz a factory OC that isn't guaranteed. Cause I know there are regions in the world where the panel is exactly same but doesn't have the 75hz.

Wait Prema made a bios for the 16L13?  And it's out?  Why on Earth is the P650 one not out :(

Also the 75Hz OC should be assured if the company your buying from lists it that way.  Some places never sold it that way though.  And the panel can often go higher.

I also think it's ridiculous that the stock P650 1080p IPS has a 25ms response time.  The 4K panel is better than it.

Its not. I believe only Mr. Fox has the only one. Look at his MSI 16L13 review thread.

The 16L13 BIOS was a present for Mr. Fox, and as far as I know, it won't be released publicly, ever. At least not that exact mod (who knows, it being a Eurocom/HID-only product might mean they'll get something in the future).

Yeah it's a BIOS-dependent thing, one should find out from the company first.

Every single laptop IPS panel is 25ms B2W and higher G2G. *EVERY SINGLE ONE*. Guess what? They don't make 60Hz TN panels for laptops anymore (and if they do, it's in super low-end machines). There is a reason I call every laptop panel shit lol. The 120Hz chi mei in the MSI models is just about the only decent one out there and nobody can freaking find it.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Interesting.  Are they all from LG?  I had never looked to much into all of them, but I've never seen any with less than 25ms now that I think about it.

Here, check this even. They're all 25ms or higher.

Notebook panels are *SHIT*. Bloodhawk is going to check how the Chi Mei N173HHE-G32 fits and works in the P870DM, and if it works well, I'm going to eventually try to source one for my own upcoming P870DM3.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Wow that's nuts.  Guess that doesn't affect much since they all suck anyway...

My desktop monitor 4K ips is supposedly a 2ms IPS display.  Panelook lists it at 12ms, but it's still pretty good.

Not going with a KM1?

Not going with a KM1?

More expensive, no use for the Optane slot, and would be locked to W10.

Also the fastest IPS panels are 4ms. Still significantly faster than these don't-even-clear-60Hz garbage panels.

Yes, as far as I know. 27" 1440p IPS 4ms panels, when laptops have 10ms/31ms on 1440p TN panels with colour banding and 6-bit + FRC for colour.

Yeah, the TN, banding and poor colours is why I couldn't use the 1440p one. I cri.

To be fair, laptop panels cost like 150 bucks tops.  The desktop ones we're talking about are like 900 dollars.  There should be a quality increase on a panel that by itself is more than a Dell Inspiron 7567.

Desktop panels cost like $100. The AAA+ grade panels are cherry picked and marked up a fuckton. If you're willing to run a roulette, you can grab the korean AAA- reject panels and generally it'll be the same good shit.

Laptop panels are dirt cheap, like $45-$65. When you see +$150 and stuff, it's all mark up. The B173ZAN01.0 was $65 with choice-select good quality in china, someone on Tech|Inferno spoke about it.

Trust me, we overpay and get bad quality stuff.

I'm well aware we overpay, the korean ones also tend to not have GSync or have backlight bleed or dead pixels though.  It depends.  GSync alone is like a 300+ dollar premium on desktop.  Though I will say it is far and away superior to laptop GSync.

They're all B173. That just denotes the 17" models. The ZAN is what tells it's the 4K panel. QTN is 1440p and HAN is 1080p.

You don't happen to know the name of the 144Hz 4K IPS panel from AUO do you?  I'm looking to pick it up early like last time.  I figured out the product number of the Acer XB271HK and it was available from warehouses like 2.5 months early for less than MSRP lol.

You don't happen to know the name of the 144Hz 4K IPS panel from AUO do you?  I'm looking to pick it up early like last time.  I figured out the product number of the Acer XB271HK and it was available from warehouses like 2.5 months early for less than MSRP lol.

Also what's you take on the GX800?

No idea, unfortunately.

GX800 isn't worth a buy. The fact that it needs a watercooling dock to do anything means it's not really a laptop. That's like traveling with your laptop + a small secondary monitor at all times. Not as bad as a mITX case + peripherals transportation, but still not qualifying as a "laptop". Acer's 21" waste of space is more of a laptop than the GX800. If you're going to require a dock, might as well get a proper proprietary eGPU solution, similar to the AGA or MSI's GS30 Shadow dock.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday
