Technically you are uncovering the laptop, dissemble it and manufacturer can not guarantee you did everything right so yes I guess

Depends on your laptop. Some manufacturers are fine with it, some like Asus are most probably not fine with it.

I believe MSI doesn't void your warranty, even if you break the stickers as long as the product breaking is not directly related to what you did to take apart the laptop.

Disassemble your laptop and, if you come up to a "void if removed" sticker, reassemble.

 

Edit: Also, some OEM's back in the day (I want to say Gateway) had stickers that attached the lower shell from the upper shell.

Depends, most likely yes. A lot of the stock paste is garbage, so I understand the appeal however. Double check with the manufacturer first.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act it is illegal for a manufacturer to void your warranty simply because a warranty void sticker is broken.

The manufacturer must be able to prove that your disassembly of the product was the cause of failure, otherwise their warranty void claims are ... void. :P

The car warranty is a good way to visualize the way the MMWA works. So go ahead and replace the thermal paste on your laptop, and take lots of pictures along the way showing you did stuff correctly.

They are unenforceable. Technically speaking, they are just a deterrent, and can be ignored. But, you have to be willing to fight it if you ever need repairs.

MMWA was NEVER enforced in real life applications. I run business models today that still account for warranty voids based on percentage of people companies can deny warranty to. The truth of the matter is while legally binding, it's unenforceable. The cost of legal fees on a case to case basis is high to the point where it is unreasonable to pursue the matter.

Dell, MSI are good with standard paste. Liquid metal still voids your warranty.

Asus, Acer, Razer, Gigabyte most likely will not know what a standard paste is.

That's the entire problem - while it's legally enforceable, the lengths which one must go to in our current court system makes it not worth it.
