You need almost 1.6 volts to have it stable O.o

I turned it down for the OC i have right now. Even when I had it higher i couldnt get it stable. Probably just didnt luck out in the silicon lottery. Oh wait, youre surprised i need that much power for stability. Yeah haha I do or windows starts bitching.

hello forum,

odd thread this, have you noticed that the open gl test score decreases each time you run the test?

this also messed up my overclocking as I can get my cpu to 4.6ghz and run prime or occt for an hour, but it will fail to do the open gl test proving that something is unstable, either in cinebench or my cpu or gpu's, which the gpu's are at stock.

Yeah that's a good effort.  I really wouldn't run that more than once or twice on ambient cooling. Also don't even bother running streets tests at that voltage you are literally just degrading the cpu.

The open gl test is mostly a single. Thread cpu benchmark,  but your gpu had to be stable as well.

screen freezing lock ups, Its believed to be down to not enough power from the psu, despite luke's video, my 1000 watt psu is maxed out at stock using 950 watts , so overclocking is a no go, thus might be causing it to fail when overclocked. the score goes down each time even when at stock. I'm using amd fx 8350.

I just never expected to see a CPU that isn't a 4670K require that much voltage.

No it won't be maxed out in cinebench open gl test at all.  Like I said it only uses 1 thread and maybe 75% of 1 gpu

Cinebench isn't exactly the easiest CPU bench to pass, but it shouldn't crash if your system is stable.  If your CPU is passing "stability tests", you may want to reevaluate which tests you are using because it's not stable.

well anything above 0c at those volts is going to degrade it. when i was testing skylake on phase i could keep them all below 10c on the hottest core at 1.7v.

info for Jumper118...

amd 8350, asus m5a99x evo, 1866 8gb and couple of gigabyte 280 in crossfire. the other forum I frequent believes it down to not enough power to overclock, this might be true as the psu calculator says I'm up to 950 watts before overclocking.

That is complete bullshit :)  that rig probably uses about 650w at most. Maybe 850w with a big oc.

I'd say that the PSU is having problems. My VS650 gives me grief with my 4790K+GTX 970+16GB RAM+2x SSD+1x HDD.

I know, which is why I said its having issues, because the VS650 definitely isn't being over drawn as well. It used to run just fine with my i5 4440+GTX 970 +GTX 650ti OC 2GB.

If you have the MC protection plan, I'd bust that 6700k's little heart and go get another one.  You will definitely end up with a better chip because the one you have is one of the worse I've seen.

Yeah haha what do you think I'm doint to the poor bastard. I know I got a lower binned 6700k because my buddy is stable at 5.2ghz. so I'm gonna oc it till it dies and go get another one lmao

There's a few processors above me that I reckon I should be beating so might go for an higher overclock tonight, although from reviews it looks like around 4.4-4.5 is the highest I'l get out of it.
