Frankie's modded Air 540 Build

LXXmGz4.png

Hello and welcome to my build log! :)

To make long story short my current system is C2D E8400 + 9800GTX+ soooo I'm long overdue for an upgrade.

Color scheme I am planning for this build is mostly black and white with maybe some orange accents to make it alive a little bit.

Parts:

  • CPU - Intel 6600K
  • Cooler - NZXT Kraken X31
  • Motherboard - MSI Z170A Krait
  • RAM -Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4 8GB (2x4GB) - 2017 added another 8GB kit.
  • SSD - Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB
  • HDD - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM
  • GPU - Sapphire R9 390 Nitro
  • Case - Corsair Air 540 (duh)
  • PSU - EVGA G2 750W
  • Fans - Corsair AF120 Quiet Edition

Vague plans for the future (can't spoil everything right now, that wouldn't be fun ;)

  • Getting the parts - hopefully tommorow if everything goes well, depends on the shop.
  • System validation - Testing the parts, building the PC, stress tests, benchmarks all that good stuff.
  • Painting part of the case - you'll see. :)
  • Cable extensions - Getting sleeving supplies is also not exactly easy in my country, mostly not much sleeving to choose from. I am open to sleeving sponsor offers though. :D

Huge shoutout goes to @1Scotty1 and @QueenDemetria that helped me consult some HW choices. Honorable mentions for people that knew about this way before I had the money @AlexStriz @Nup

I'm really sorry if I forgot about somebody, don't scream at me please. :D

I hopefully add some pictures tommorow if everything goes well, thanks for reading folks. :)

Little teaser of things I done so far. :)

Can I suggest you get a larger SSD as a boot drive, I really struggled with, my 120GB Agility 3.

Looking forward to the build though ,will be a massive jump!

I don't have any problems with suggestions, but the parts are ordered and I should be fine with the 120GB. Even now I only have 86GB on C: drive.

Massive jump indeed. :)

AIr 540 build??? yes please!! I love the air 540 as an idea but not 100% as an execution. I suggest going with a 2.5 inch 1tb drive if you can. believe me it looks about a trillion times better to remove the hard drive sleds and just put drives in the back. I'm subbed for sure!!

I am a member of the PCMasterRace. I am terribly sad to announce that I own a PeasantStation 3 Super Slim. it's in a drawer away from my glorious PC.

I'm really sorry guys, I had some OS problems. Let me tell you, Skylake reeeeally doesn't like win 7 and I didn't know that. But I figured it out and everything seems to be in order now. I will get you all some pictures today. :)

It's just from my phone, in not so great light conditions. It will hopefully do for now. :) At some point in time I try to find and charge our point and shoot camera to see if it's any better. :) Meanwhile I really need to set this thing up and play with it for a while (there is a joke somewhere)   :D

I will probably post some temps under stress test and benchmarks for you folks later. :)

I get what you mean, I plan to hide the HDD to the back and to do something creative with the SSD. But for now I really just want to play with my new toy. :D

HTC Desire X, not a bad phone but camera sucks ass. It can take decent looking photos in daylight though. :)

I posted at least these for you because it's already dark and I had to get the OS going. Plus my room looks like battlefield. :D
