Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

My brother is currently in university and has little to no knowledge about the best and latest tech. He's still using a run down hp laptop and some no-name earbuds.
Because a $300 laptop probably won't help him much, I wish to get him a nice, comfortable pair of headphones to use while studying his butt off.
I would like to get him the Sony MDR-1A headset.
Thank you for the giveaway Linus!

Well a friend of mine has basically dumpster-dived for a crappy old laptop to take notes and read study materials for university. Can't argue with free stuff but a laptop which can't hold a charge for more than 4 minutes, runs some bloated version of Vista and doesn't connect to the wifi half the time is a poor excuse for a computer to be doing any work on.
Since he basically uses most of Google's services anyway and wifi is abundant anywhere he goes, a chromebook, which would last him through the whole day on one charge without fighting over that one free power socket would be a great help getting work done and you know.... graduating and stuff.
The Asus c201 Chromebook

P.S. The 4GB version doesn't ship to where we reside, so the 2GB should do anyway.

I want to give my Grandfather a 3ds, because he was always a fan of Nintendo stuff since the original NES, but he wasn't really a big tech guy, he just loved playing Nintendo games now that he's really old, he doesn't have much energy to stand to play on our Wii or Wii.

I already have one, but I'm just in college and I don't money to buy another one rn, this would be a great gift to him. THX Linus for the

I would love to gift my father a new processor and build a new pc around it for him, because my father and I like 3D-modelling and gaming, but he has a very slow pc so we can't do a lot together. It would be really nice to get this processor and spend some time gaming in modelling with my father!

I'd acquire either the HiFiMan HE400S or the Schiit Asgard 2 for my grandfather. He's a big music fan, and love listening at night before bed, but only has speakers (at the moment), and grandmother goes to bed a few hours before him.  A good headphone setup would allow him to listen at an appreciable volume without disturbing her slumber.

Just a gpu? If she hasn't ever used a computer in her life, I wouldnt get her a nice gaming GPU like a 780...maybe put that money into a basic PC. A graphics card wont do anything without the rest of the system lolol

An SSD for my brother. He has so many games and he already annoys me about slow internet. The least I could do is make his local games load fast. As large as possible that could fit in the budget (that's why no link)

After watching your video on YouTube about the hd598 headphones, I was hoping that some day, I could buy it to my mentor/math teacher for some holiday or his birthday! Even though he is a math teacher now, he really loves music, and even was a musician when he was young. It's sad to see him using those smartphone bundle earbuds all the time. I want to get him a special gift, and I think headphones would be the best due to his passion in music, and also, simply to thank him!

I would like my entire family to have this external hard drive so that we can all back-up all of our pictures/videos/documents etc. I have had to go through 2 3TB seagate external hard drives which have failed in less than 2 years, but managed to switch before the drive died completely.

GoPro Hero 4 Session with Smart Remote.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010H05JMQ?keywords=gopro%20hero%204&qid=1449935916&ref_=sr_1_6&s=photo&sr=1-6
I chose my dad because the camera we have isn't an action camera nor is it water proof and we can't afford a Gopro with the money situation were in right now, he wants to capture moments of my life and so I can watch it later on in my life to see what I've done in my life.

First post, actually came here just for this.

Link: http://www.amazon.com/TV-Ears-11290-Wireless-Speaker/dp/B00HCA6VHM/ref=sr_1_3?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1449939265&sr=1-3&keywords=wireless+speaker+for+tv

Intended recipient: Grandfather

Reason: My grandfather worked as a welder for over 30 years and has terrible hearing. He now has a rather large living room due to his work; he was raised with modest means and isn't used to having such a large living room, so he sits as far away from the TV that he can to make maximum use of the space. No amount of logic has been able to change his mind about that.

So, instead of trying to change a man set in his ways, I want to get him this speaker. I saw the headset, but he mostly refuses to wear his hearing aids, so I don't think he would be okay with the headset.

I'd just like to set this speaker up for him and set it on a small end table right next to him. I know my grandmother would appreciate it, and I hope it improves his quality of life. He deserves it.

The Samsung T1 Portable SSD for my mother to store the photos from the familys dslr camera (and maybe also for some backups). At the moment she stores the photos on her notebook which is almost full. And since the photos are also in raw it takes really long to copy them to a normal drive.

For me, I would get a non-techie person a Drawing Tablet.

One particular one I had in mind was the Intuos Art Graphics Tablet by Wacom.

http://www.amazon.ca/Wacom-Intuos-Art-Graphics-Tablet/dp/B010LHRVOY/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

I'd love to give this to my grandpa as his drawings/art that he made for us were truly oustanding. He is deaf and mute and has trouble fitting in socially as not alot of people understand sign language. Due to this, he chooses to stay home rather than go out. However, he spends his time either playing chess on Win7 or drawing. I feel that he expresses his emotions through his art so what better gift to get for him!

I would get my brother this:

http://www.amazon.com/MAXIMUS-VIII-HERO-LGA1151-Motherboard/dp/B012NH1SK8/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449943217&sr=1-2&keywords=asus+z170

His PC is beige  circa 1996?  He is sooo cheap, he always states that it's fine and he doesn't need a new one.  I have all the various bits to build another PC except a motherboard thanks to my "hobby", I upgrade regularly.

Thanks
