Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

Great giveaway, thanks!

My parents aren't really into any kind of tech that one can think of. Even their feeding computer, which they use a lot of course, at the piggery is from the 90's. It's slow, but it's too expensive to replace. Their working computer is also quite old, with even older monitor. I'd really like to give them a new monitor because it's painful to look at them when they try to use excel and other work stuff with a screen so small. It's an old 19" monitor with just some awful resolution to be precise .

Well, then I stumbled across this new monitor:

Normally it would be more than $300, but it's now on sale and under the given limit, hope it's ok

I would gift my on techie counterpart a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (Linked below)

I would gift it to my mom, because she keeps complaining that the 120GB 7200RPM HDD in her computer takes an hour to turn on and that is out of space. The 500GB SSD is not only so much faster (I have used that old HDD in her PC, its slow) and it has a much greater capacity! It would make her PC much faster, and I won't have to get random phone calls from her telling me her computer won't turn on and its corrupted. (The rest of her system is decent, it has an i5 4460 and a decent PSU, so I'm pretty sure the hard drive is the issue)

I have finally convinced my dad to get into PC gaming. I already bought him a Steam Link, and 2 mice, one wire, one wireless. Logitech G502, and G602. Because the plan is to have the computer in the office where he can game on M+KB, and stream everything to the tvs so he can have a relaxing couch experience when he feels like it. Now to get him started it would be awesome and super appreciated if you got the NZXT H440 Razer editon case. Thank you in general for being awesome LTT and making such awesome videos! Love you guys!

P.S. I'll also be family sharing my account that way he'll have a ton of games from the start! Can't wait for him to be a part of the GPCMR!

A pair of JBl LSR305 studio monitors for my mom, who's hard of hearing, so that when she's cooking and experimenting in her kitchen she doesn't have to move her laptop every time she goes from one counter to another to hear her music comfortably.

My sister is a passionate singer and wants to start a Youtube channel. Like every stereotypical teenage girl she has a DSLR and my grandparents will get her a decent microphone for christmas, so she is pretty much set hardware wise. I would love to get her a decent video editing software. Since you should never gift a monthly subscription unless someone explicitly asks you to the Adobe Creative Cloud is out of the equation. Therefore I feel like Final Cut Pro X would be a good choice.

The seller on Amazon looks kind of sketchy (not sure how someone can sell Apple Software for 1/3 of what you pay in Apple App Store), so I would prefer the Apple App Store (which is still below 300$), but obviously I won't complain either way.

Hi Linus,

I recently built a pretty cheap but not too bad gaming rig for my older sister (who is not much of a "tech person" and tends to avoid doing anything related, but still wants to game). She really likes playing games such as Witcher 3 or Fallout 4, and the 750ti I provided isn't doing so hot. So, I'd like to get her a Sapphire R9 290 Vapor-X GPU to satisfy her gaming needs. This will fit perfectly into her FX 6300 system.

Thank you so much for this giveaway Linus!

Hey LTT-Team,

my entry is pretty late, but i am really happy i didnt forget it at all...

So now onto the product:
US-Link: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Unlocked-Phone-Internal-Memory/dp/B00UFWB0FW/ref=sr_1_6?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1450049996&sr=1-6&keywords=lg+g+flex+2

DE-Link: http://www.amazon.de/LG-Smartphone-Full-HD-POLED-Display-2-GHz-Octa-Core-Prozessor-13-Megapixelkamera/dp/B00R4TCGLG/ref=sr_1_3?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1450050103&sr=1-3&transaction=device_only&keywords=lg+g+flex+2
This is for my mum (she is 50) and she isn't a techie at all, she still has an old nokia flip phone. But that phone now starts to suffer extremely what battery life belongs and also all of the exchange battery are bad because the phone is already out of production for 2 years or so. She now needs and also partitially wants a new phone and really starts to show interest in a smartphone.

But that's it. I really hope that i now win one of those giveaways all around the internet. Even if not thanks for doing this giveaway, LTT.

Thanks

P.S.: The link(s) i am providing are from amzon.com where the phone costs about $230 (not the international version) and the second is from amazon.de where the appropriate and needed "european" version is costing 261,01€ which (on the 14th of December) is translating to $286.83. I hope thats ok.

Hello. I have chosen to enter the giveaway with a chance at winning a new Galaxy S4 for my grandparents. They currently have a old phone that does not get a very good signal.

My mom is on an 8-year old Imac with a hilarious intel core 2 duo, it is so slow, every time I try to help her use it, we just sit waiting. She's been wanting a new laptop to replace her Ipad 3rd gen(similarly slow), but also replace her old desktop. I think she would really like this laptop, as it is a simple laptop when she's on the go, so she can use all of her work applications while not at her office.

Thanks LTT

I would give an HP Printer with a year of HP Instant Ink to my mother and father in law. This is truly a gift that keeps on giving throughout the year. HP tracks ink levels remotely and ships out replacement cartridges well in advance of you running out. With Instant Ink you can print up to 300 pages a month (with rollover) in full color. This printer also works wirelessly so they can print directly from their smart phones. Thinking I'll connect it to their home Wi-Fi and be done with tech support for a year.

Their current printer spends most of its life flashing low ink and they rarely print photos from vacations or holidays. I'm sure this would be a big hit for Christmas.

For my younger brother, who has decided to build his own PC rather than getting a next-gen current-gen console for Christmas! He was a little wary of building his own, but I've convinced him it will be worth it.

In all likelihood I will wind up working with my parents to get him an r9 390 (dat price to performance tho), but if by some grace I win this giveaway I'd be more than happy to get him an r9 290 (no 390s below $300 on Amazon right now) and save my own money to get him a mechanical keyboard or ssd :)

I think the WD My Cloud is a great gift for a non tech person. Its something i would get my parents as a joint gift. They like to watch movies and share home videos and vacation photos etc etc etc. I have experience with a WD My Cloud and the set up takes a small amount of effort but once set up its as simple as putting the WD My Cloud shortcut on the desktop of their computer and that's it. From my use in the past on it they have the ability to stay on 100% of the time and even set restrictions so some users can view the content and add content but not remove content and can be accessed on mobile devices. This is great for times where i may be on vacation and they wish to see the photos i took, i can use the mobile app to upload them and not have to worry about them accidentally erasing them. I would say the bigger the better to future prof your technology (within a reasonable $ per TB range) At the time i'm posting this the amazon prices are as listed below

2TB - $65 per TB ($129.99)

3TB - $46.33 per TB ($139.00)

4TB - $42.25 per TB ($168.99)

6TB - $41.67 per TB ($249.99)

8TB - sold out

10TB - $56.10 per TB ($560.99)

12TB - $45.83 per TB (549.99),(not sure why 12TB is less then 10TB)

i would say don't do less then 3TB but if you can shell out the cash 12TB is not to bad of a value, for the best value though go with the 6TB. At this time youll get the most bang for your buck and they all have a usb 3.0 port on the back anyway if you needed more in the future, but for a non tech person 6TB is more then enough and you will probably have no need for the 2nd usb 3.0 port from the dual drives over the single drives.

sorry if its long or i have typos, i just started typing and i couldn't stop and i didn't have time to check spelling or grammar, ill shut up now here is the amazon link

I would like to hear what people think about my gift idea

My dad needs an upgrade from the Technics su-g91 that he got pre 2000s. It is starting to fail on him, and he is needing a new one. He knows how to operate an amp, he just needs me to set it up for him.
