PSU for 960GTX

Mchedlo

and how can I load it to the max? im not overclocking anything (gpu comes OC-ed already). if it will last 2-3 years at least, im more than fine with it

If you're not OCing a 960 you're wasting money - it's crap unless you get 1500MHz core and 1800MHz memory

If the B1 was that good, GS wouldn't exist. Customer reviews are arbitrary.

no no. That's not how it works. It's not as good, but that's not what we are discussing here. It's good enough for most people, especially low power builds like OP has. You could run OP's build from an alienware charger.

link which you showed me about Benchmarks and comparison in FPS. difference between R9 380 4gb and 960GTX 4GB OC was just 2-3 FPS, which means nothing for me + Nvidias card is aesthethically superior to Sapphire. (it looks like a cheap card) + 960GTX comes with free backplate included on it.. and yes im Team green

Sapphire cards are the best AMD cards available. By no means cheap. You're also losing the ability to properly use the memory since a 128-bit bus will bottleneck 4GB quite a bit.

Go with what suites you (I say).  And I wouldn't rely on your power supply to protect your computer during a power surge regardless of what you spent.

There's arguments for both sides.  You may not see the full benefit of a bigger memory bus with a weaker GPU in some gaming scenarios.  Things like micro studdering and min fps can be a factor in certain games.  It comes down to preference.  I don't think looking at one spec should deter you from buying one or the other.

But I will say Sapphire isn't a bad brand at all, I've recommended their 7870s in the past.

At 1080p the gap still remains big - the 380 will last for longer and when properly optimized, it comes close to a 970. Look at battlefront.

I didn't have good experience with AMD cards, that's why I don't like them. always had Nvidia myself and they always satisfied me. even now I have 6 years old 9800GT right now :D

Don't take my word for it, but a lot of reviewers including Digital Foundry, JayzTwoCents and others are recommending the 380 over the 960

I'll just say that I've recommended the 960 2gb version (I know, heresy) to two people and they're really happy with it.  One in particular runs some high texture skyrim mods on his 1080p monitor and it does fine (not looking at the fps or anything).

For the record, the PSU he has is a Rosewill ARC 450.  I'm a heretic.

2010 is when I started using AMD - haven't had a single issue since.

On a small side note - I shred through my 3GB of VRAM with Skyrim :D

So B1 is better than W1 right? (just making sure) well if I will upgrade, I will still need to replace PSU cuz I will buy 970 or 980

If getting 970 in future, 390 is better.

If getting 980 in future, 390x is better :P

Nah, @TheSLSAMG has played GTA V hitting the 4GB VRAM barrier and managed it just fine. The 128 bit bus can handle it no problem. ;)

it doesn't matter to me. 600 people was a joke. If you didn't pick it up. My main point from the beginning was that it has almost no bad reviews. Actually the same amount as GS does.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Users reviews mean jack. The people on Newegg/Amazon review a product within two weeks of unboxing it 99% of the time. The EVGA B1 has existed for all of a year. Sure, jonnyguru gave it a good rating but he did that based on value almost entirely which I hate. That would put this PSU and Corsair CX-series with high-end Seasonic units because of the fact that it can actually provide its rated wattage. That is why I take his after-the-fact rating with a grain of salt.

The GS is a Seasonic S12 or G-series (can't quite remember which - both are great) and is much better quality. If the OP can afford it then I see no reason to spend more money and get a better product.

To the OP, I would buy a 380 if it were my money as opposed to a 960 just because you get marginally better performance across the board for a bit less money with the 380. I also prefer AMD's drivers as of recent.

I'd also look for a few of the following PSUs:

EVGA GS/G2/B2

XFX anything

Seasonic anything

While it can load up all the VRAM, it's still bottlenecked and thus slower than a R9 380 4G

Helloooo forum! ^_^ long story short, I need a PSU for my build. Its: i5 4430, 8GB DDR3 RAM 1600mhz, HDD 500GB WD, Mobo: Asus B85M-G R2.0 and GPU 960GTX SSC 4GB/2GB (will buy it in a week or so). so whats good PSU for my build? before I was planning on buying EVGA 550W GS, which costs about 90$. I asked on forum and people told me that its one of the best PSU which I can choose for my build. but I found recently EVGA 500W B1 (80 + bronze) which costs 48$  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DGHKK7M?redirect=true&ref_=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i2

or 500W regular which costs 40$ and is Best Seller http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H33SFJU?keywords=500w&qid=1446046072&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

I don't mind that extra 10$ :D  im just asking will 500W be enough for my build? since its Maxwell architecture (gpu) and needs less power. and no im not planning on upgrading anything at least 2 years.

EDIT: will those PSUs have 8pin/6 pin connectors for GTX 960? I don't remember it needs 8 or 6 :S

300Watts would be enough, but you may want a 400Watt depending on your OC conditions and OV conditions.  Although you won't be OCing your i5 since it lacks a K sku

I'm playing my Xbone on 3 LG Curved monitors-No one ever
