Windows 10 - Technical Preview - Availible NOW - Download Link Here

GoodBytes

Weird

We had to get the link somehow, but usually just ask a teacher or older student. Then we only had to register with our school email and we had full access

Same here. I got it since I'm on an IT course and I had to do the same to get my account.

I guess I can try. My major is in the correct department at least.

ITT, people complain about a beta of an OS less than 2 hours old having issues with a VM.

I'm furious that it hasn't been cracked yet! Bunch of lazy pirates... /s

The sad part is that people will actually pirate it instead of just signing in and downloading it for free

Nope this would work.

Alright....well, now I guess I just have to decide whether or not to pick up a 120gb Corsair LS/MX100 and try it out, or just stick to w7.

The funny thing is the pirates with pirated 7 or 8 will have to pay full retail for 10 (if they plan on having windows 10 any time soon) while everyone else gets to enjoy the free or 30 dollar cost ^^

well not exactly since there are programs which will give your pirated version of windows 7 an OEM Windows key

Wait what, you want to use this most likely still very bugged version as your main OS?

Already had a error which said to reinstall windows, but restarted and everything worked again. You could also say it is windows 8.1. But so far i like it

At first I thought the live tiles would be nice in the start menu, but it seems to be a pain in the ass to rearrange them properly.

Video related.

Hopefully they fix this in the final release. If I drag and drop something at a certain spot, I want it to stay there, not rearrange itself.

I'm aware of keygens but wouldn't Windows 10 authorize your license before allowing you to get the free 10?

lol I'm just imagining windows inspecting a license. there's no authorization, no windows account associated with the license, and the activation key matches 65,000 other users

"Yep this checks out. Here's your free upgrade."

I would have tried out Windows 10 but I already had to reinstall Win8.1 just last week, long story and much pain. So I'll just listen to what everyone else has to say and upgrade later.

Yeah, this is true in Windows 8.x the tiles have a "magnetism" towards the top/left. It would be neat if you could place them in any position on the "grid" like the icons on the desktop behave. Should suggest that via the Feedback option. :)

@RH00D

Someone already requested it in the Windows Feedback. It's under Files folders and online storage > Start Screen and then click on "Please allow to place tiles random on the start menu (like on Windows Phone)" then click "Me too" so that there are more people supporting the change.

I found another request for it in:

Personalization and Ease of Access -> All other issues -> "I would like to be able to put tiles in the start menu like window phone (example: one under the other, instead of next to each other and then a new row).

Looks like they use the same code as in Win8. As it behaves this way if you have a large group.

Be sure to use the feedback button and/or MS forum

make a new windows account and claim you over 18 ms has a lot of limitations on under age accounts probably to avoid stuff like Google whit refunds on the play store law suit

Don't know for sure as I am at college but the feature is very similar to how it is on Mac OS. Try dragging on dropping between desktops and try using Control and arrow keys to move between desktops.
