10 DVDs, why did software never start coming on bluray?

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-07-15-microsoft-flight-simulator-comes-on-10-discs they store more & you can get Bluray ODDs for computes easy.

1) BD drives are more expensive and fewer people have them 2) a lot of people don't even have disc drives anymore, just download it. There are going to be day one patches anyway.

computers dont always have a bluray drive

DVDs are more common. It's far more likely that if you find a PC with a 5.25" drive, it'll play DVDs but not Blu-Rays.

 

They do exist but they are rare.

'no one' has a Blu-ray drive.

Even so, you have to keep in mind who these on-disc games are for. They are for people with poor internet speeds or datacaps. I don't think there would be a huge overlap between those people and people that have a BD reader in their computer.
