CPU, GPU etc. it's obvious - some high end Ryzen (or Intel if they made something interesting) with some great high end Asus motherboard and 128GB RAM. Plus best GPU of course.

Then 4 x 4TB SATA SSD, 1 x 1TB fast NVME, 1 x 2TB NVME and some WD GOLD 14TB for backup.

Plus pure black PC case with lot of hotplug 2.5 and 3.5 bays (I want all my SSD removable) and without any windows, rgb bull***t etc.

Plus some great music card and 3 monitors for work.

If I was to just build whatever I wanted now, I'd probably have a 3950X machine as a daily driver (maybe ITX since it's something I'm interested in looking more into), and then a 10900K build with something like a Maximus XII Apex and some Samsung B-die memory that my unknowledgeable self could get to 5GHz, for when I feel like overclocking the snot out of something lol.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

I don't think a threadripper would fit on an itx, the cpu is so big it takes 1/4 the space

My current one but with a different case, different fans and cooler, tiny bit more RAM (max out to 24GB), bigger SSD, and some nice new monitors.

Maybe a new AMD GPU but honestly I don't need more performance.

Display technology is the only bottle neck when it comes to a “dream build” - I have a PC that can do 300-600+ FPS in MP games.

I would love to see:

MicroLED (or even OLED)

27”

1440p / 2160p

480Hz

G-Sync

Dolby Vision/HDR10+

MicroLED & OLED can support response times of 0.1-1ms easily as each pixel is controlled individually & instantly so even 1,000Hz would be possible but with RTX 3000 right around the corner & being able to achieve 300-700 FPS in MP games, a 480Hz would easily be doable at 1440p.

This is without sacrificing image quality when otherwise having to use TN / VA / IPS.
