How do I e-beg for hardware?

shapeshiftinglizard

My current PC is 10+ years old, meaning it's not capable of a lot of things anymore. Unfortunately I don't have any source of income, and have no job opportunities that I could do locally as they require me to lift 50+kg, which is I'm incapable of due to poor muscle tone and even gaining muscle would take a lot of time. I would be a software developer (github), but I live far away from such job opportunities, and Hungarian companies don't believe in remote employment, not to mention my PC started having issues running IDE software at bearable speeds (currently I'm getting 1 character per sec in Visual Studio Code when typing). I also lack the skills related to self-promoting and I really suck at it, so "freelancing" is hardly an option. I've applied to so many jobs that I've developed a burn out from it.

Locally it's almost impossible. People here think of computers as fancy electric toys that make your kid not playing football, and IT workers created the financial recession because they're paid for "Super Marioing", not to mention the last time when people mass bought PCs in this country, it was the Pentium 4/Athlon XP era, so I only could get an even worse PC for "e-mail and word processing" as a replacement (as they often sell these really obsolete machines).

Upgrades are pretty hard on my PC, I've only 4 GB of DDR2 RAM (8GB possible with special modules), and an AM2 board with an Athlon 64 x2 CPU and fried USB ports. I procured an untested AM3+ board, but it's too large for my microATX chassis, and I don't have anything else for it. Also note that the used market in my country is catastrophic as mostly the rich upgraded, and cheaper "non-gaming" components are harder to come by.

Hardware recommendation in this case is much less helpful to me than the tips on getting them in the first hand.

What is new hardware, regardless of how you get it, going to do to improve your situation?  You said yourself that working remotely isn't an option in your country and you don't have motivation to self-employ, so I don't see what a working computer is going to do to make things different.

Sounds like you need to focus on getting any job.  I don't know how old you are, or what part-time employment looks like in your country, but I have a hard time believing that EVERY SINGLE JOB requires you to lift 50+ kgs.  If so, then start working out so you can get one of those jobs.

It's harsh, but you gotta try a little to help yourself man.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

Not to mention, I went straight into one of those jobs from high school.  Honestly a typical pudgy weeb who never did sports beyond once-a-year downhill skiing, but I persevered for the first 2 months and managed to get the muscle mass required in the approximately 300 (35*8ish) hours of work in said time period.

And even if 50kg is too much right off the bat, working out at home for literally a single month would be enough to get you close to the bar

Three words in response to that

Made

Case

If I can run my $2000 PC in a case made of scrap plywood, you can do the same for a rig that costs 1/100th the amount

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Yos! My folding/bench rig is just a mobo tray and PSU mount from Etsy screwed to a cheap board of plywood with couch feet on the bottom. I've ran rigs literally sitting in boxes though, if you're not bumping it then it's fine like that. Main thing cases do is just keep the components from bouncing around, they are just fancy boxes with more convenient mounting points. Help with airflow a bit too, but open air rigs usually do fine as well (heck, they sell open air cases and people pay extra for them because they look cool).

As others have said, you don't. Either you find literally any work you can, or you wait until you're older, move to another town/city and get a job there
