Favorite Mechanical Keyboard/Switch

I'm coming up on about 5 keyboards and I'm getting addicted, and going as far as soldering my own keyboards at this point.

I've tried every MX switch, and the majority of cherry clones, I even have some linear modded alps switches on an old dell at101w which are pretty great for linear.

But I'd have to say my favorite switches are actually Kailh Navy Blue Thick Clicks, saying I love tactile switches is an understatement.

I figured i'd ask the community what their favorites are while I'm at it.

+1 for obscure non cherry switches.

I've only had experience with Cherries. Blues feel the best, but sound awful. Browns are nice, and all linear Cherries are worse than membranes.

I really want to try Kalih BOX switches. When I get enough money to build a keyboard, it will absolutely have BOX switches (probably Jades or Navies, not quite sure yet).

Quote me to see my reply!

The kind that works ?

I'm not picky, TBH, so long as it's functioning, I can type on any real keyboard (those stupid Apple chiclet keyboards suck and don't count)

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I'm tempted to buy the Jade's right now, they are constantly out of stock and you I got the massdrop alt last night for $120 (W/o caps or switches tho)

Super happy with my MX browns equipped Corsair STRAFE. The only good thing about my thesis is that I will be writing it with that keyboard.

Linear Switches: Currently a tie between Novelkeys x Kailh Creams and Zeal Roselios. I have a set of Gateron Linjar and Zeal PC Sakurios that I still need to try in a board.

Tactile: Outemu Skies for now. I have Halo Trues and YOK Red Pandas to make Holy Pandas but I'm too lazy to lube and put them together.

Clicky: I've only had Kailh BOX Navies.

Novelkeys x Kailh Novelias have a special place in my heart since they are my first non-Cherry switch, and they are rose-gold!

For me, I like the Blue OutEmu switches. It's a clone of Blue switches, but somehow it appeals me more. I'm using Armaggeddon MK11R. Although it's noisy, but the clicky sounds gives a good feedback whether the key has been registered to the system or not. It helps my typing.

I have ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_spectrum

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

used to rock autemu blu they were realy decent for budget switches but I found cherry or gateron blues just had a nicer tactile feedback I found,

I loved the model M I was using, but I can't use it for games like Warframe where I have to press ctrl+shift+W+A/D+SPACE at the same time, I think it's still in my closet though, I would actually not go for Cherry blues, I would actually recomend the Kailh box jades right now, I got to try them out last night

Sadly PS2 can't handle a lot of inputs, but my games only reguire a mouse / max 2 buttons ( mostly MMO RPGs ) so I don't mind it :D

PS/2 Can do N-KEY rollover so that's pretty lit, CPU interrupts are also lit too.

The M just can't do more than 2* inputs because of it's membrane design, it uses buckling springs over a membrane pad, so it can't do too many inputs at once sadly

Tried a fair few mechanical swtiches in shops but only owned one type for an extended period and thats the Cherry MX Browns. Of all the ones I tried in shops they are by far the ones I like the most. I find them the quietest of the 3 main Cherry switches because they don't bottom out as hard as reds and don't click like blues. I also like the fact they take a little more pressure to push down. They don't make a really irritaiting click (looking at you Razer) and they feel crisper than logitech's Romer-G switches.

The Cooler Master Masterkeys MK750 I have them in is a great keyboard and I don't see myself swtiching anytime soon

You can get a Model F (also a buckling spring) which does support N-key rollover. Therey make a modern variant of it, but they are a bit pricey . https://www.modelfkeyboards.com/

That's super neat! I'm glad someones doing it, I may make the plunge in the future. Is this similar to the unicomp situation, where they bought out all the stuff and are basically making it from the same factory?
