Thumbnail needs more Antec 1200/DF-85, the 900 just isn't GAMER enough IMO.

Edit: BL2 was 7 years ago? Jesus

Edit 2: 980 was 5 years ago? Yikes

Where did all the time go?

Regardless, I'd love to see a 10 years of PC cases. It'd be interesting to see how each tier of PC building has changed overtime, the introduction of PSU shrouds, addressable RGB, and more

I must be getting old - I can still remember when firing up Far Cry (the original)  HL2 and Doom 3 gave me the kick in the pants for 3D graphics and fun on a PC. I'm not much of a first person shooter fan nowadays, but those games felt like the gold standard back when they were around. And jokes aside for Crysis, when it was released it really did push hardware to the extreme.

Speaking of extreme, your argument at the end of the video is missing the X99 platform which arrived in 2014. HEDT brought with it 8 core CPU's that have only now gotten to the mainstream. And in that 5 years we have gone from 8 core 5960X to 28 core W-3175X - that's a monumental jump in performance on more than one metric.

I've never heard of a 7200RPM SSD. Must be some extremely cutting edge 2010 tech.

Only just replaced my 2600k - too many volts for too many years degraded it and I couldn't keep it cool any more. Z77 motherboard is still ok though.

I honestly would've been more interested if they'd started 20 years back

1) Suprisied that the R9 290X didn't make a apperence.

2) What is the difference between Ivy Bridge 22nm and Haswell 22nm?

3) Why no storage at 7:32?

I think you guys got something wrong at 6:51, Sandy Bridge was LGA1155, not LGA1156.

Too old to sell or even give away...too power hungry to use as a server or backup rig

Hey there is one related video that I would love to see...

Take all the i7 CPUs starting from the generation of the i7 9x0 and for each generation (2xxx,3xxx etc until 9xxx), run them with the exact same core count, frequency and GPU (and memory sticks and set to the same speed/timings when it's the same type) for comparison.

If possible, even lowering the pci bus to 2x to make it fair, and whatever else can be matched across all platforms will help.  Also maybe running with and without HT...  perhaps a few more combos but I understand making the list small is important since there are so many platforms.

Running older and newer benchmark versions will also show a pattern of software using newer instructions to benefit.

The goal is really to see the IPC change, and new instructions change,  over the i7 CPU history.

Perhaps I want to feel good about my 980X at 4.2Ghz with my 1080ti being still a thing :)  however it would still be incredibly interesting!
