Looking for a new AIO cooler

Go to solution Solved by KaitouX,

Just use the stock cooler or some cheap air cooler(be quiet! Pure Rock Slim should fit no problem and is $40 for example.), unless you think the looks are worth $100+ as the 3600 won't get any advantage from being on a expensive cooler, AIO or Air.

Also some bigger coolers from Scythe and Thermalright seems to fit the case according to the sizes on PCPP, but are apparently really expensive or unavailable in Canada, maybe those are worth a looking if you can get one for cheap in case you want more options.

In my opinion AIOs are useless for these new Ryzen CPUs, even some cheaper air coolers can max out the 12c part while staying at usable temps.

Also any reason why you can't reuse the AIO you already have? if you can reuse then just don't get a new one, no need to do so.

Hello;

So I just ordered the DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240EX and just realized that there may be problems with the cooler tubes. There have been many reviews that said that their tubes on their cooler broke and spilled the liquid inside of their system. So I am a little worried about using that AIO. So I am planning on returning it and getting a better quality one. Any thoughts for good quality 250mm AIO cooler?

I was looking at the Corsair Hydro Series H100i https://www.newegg.ca/p/N82E16835181141?Item=N82E16835181141&nm_mc=AFC-RAN-CAN&cm_mmc=AFC-RAN-CAN&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_source=afc-PCPartPicker&AFFID=2558510&AFFNAME=PCPartPicker&ACRID=1&ASID=https%3a%2f%2fca.pcpartpicker.com%2fproduct%2fhmBTwP%2fcorsair-h100i-pro-750-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-cw-9060033-ww&ranMID=44589&ranEAID=2558510&ranSiteID=8BacdVP0GFs-OMWw17O15mjCBqZ5DJMJPQ. I have had Corsair AIO cooler for 2 years now in my older build and have had no problems with it.

Thanks for your suggestions and help!

Why are you getting an AIO? The O11 Dynamic is horrid with AIOs in every review I have read/seen, it was made with custom water cooling in mind. It is however fine as an air cooled case with something like a Noctua NH D15 or bequiet! Dark Rock Pro 4.

If you really want an AIO, get the largest one you can afford from any brand that uses Asetek parts, which is 99% of them.

This is an old article, but is still quite valid. Also consider newer versions of the coolers listed, as they use nothing but later revision of Asetek components (Save for the H115i Platinum, which uses CoolIT parts and performs similarly though marginally worse.)

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

THe D15 and Dark rock pro 4 don't fit in a O11 Dynamic, what are you talking about??

AIOs do perfectly fine in there. Built several systems in them, most with 240mm/360mm aios.

The NH-D15 and the bequit! Dark Rock Pro 4 from what I can tell, (based on the specs of the case) cannot fit inside the Lian-Li dynamic. They may fit the in the Lian-Li air version I am not completely sure.

Thanks for the information and the article, I will take a read.

Out of curiosity if you used a 240mm AIO for the O11 dynamic how did you configure your case fans? Same for a 360mm.

I was talking with someone, and they suggested if I used a 240mm to put it at the top as an exhaust, then 2 120mm fans on both the side and the bottom as intake.

One of the main reasons that I wanted to get an AIO, is because I thought I read that the Lian-Li dynamic was best for water cooling. But if an air CPU cooler would work just as well, I am open to that option.

Use the stock cooler, is my recommendation too.

Also, why are you buying a motherboard almost the price of your CPU?   Get a good B450, it's a 3600 not a 3700X or 3900X.

The stock cooler is complete trash. I have the same cpu on a b450 tomahawk at stock setting and it would hit 84c playing siege online.

I put a single fan coolermaster 120 aio on it today and it stayed at 60c when playing R6 online, that was after 4 hours.

That 84c was in a fractal design focus g case with 4 Corsair ll120 fans, 2 intake and 2 exhaust. I don’t know what safe operating temps are for ryzen 3000 but I don’t like my pc being that hot. It was dumping hot ass air out of the exhaust, like hot to the touch.

You had something else going on then, I can see  84c from Intel's stock cooler but not the AMD Stealth.  I can see a 10c difference but 24c is too much.

Alright, wow.  Okay, going to look deeper into the stock cooler then, thanks for the info.

That adds a bit of cost to a 3600 choice then, you'll spend another 20% for a cooler than too.

Trust me I was shocked when I saw it too. I ran it for a day with the stock paste and kept getting the same results so I swapped it out with new paste. Temps didn’t improve and I used it for another day just to confirm it wasn’t me being stupid somehow.

I also went into the bios and manually set the voltage to not go over 1.35 volts and it stayed the same temp wise but then it wouldn’t turbo boost at all. It would stay at 3.6ghz. I thought it was the voltage which does go up past 1.4 volts.

I honestly don’t know how good or bad the other wraith coolers are. If I didn’t already have the coolermaster aio laying around I would of been pretty pissed off about this but thankfully I had that aio to use.  I’m still not happy about it but it’s too late now and I’ll just snag a Corsair aio with the good rgb fans next time I find one on sale.

This is how they work.  First you email them saying your cooler doesn't work.  Then you email them a video showing it doesn't work.  They then claim ignorance and want you to put the non working pump with a video of the bios showing the cooler pump not working never mind its dangerous to do that wiht your video card.  Anyways the amount of negative reviews to positive on this is just not worth the risk.  I made the stupid mistake of purchasing thInsert other media is and am still getting the runaround

trying to rma this.  Corsair is worth spending the extra 20-50 dollars on to get a pump/res combo that works and actually has an RMA department that isn't piss poor.
