What are the best fans?

BlackMirror

Hey what are the best Fans for intake (140mm).

And for outtake (or does intake and outtake not matter?).

They should be having a great airflow but should also be very quiet.

The color of the Noctuas wont be a problem.

Thank you for your answers  :)

I suggest Noctuas with ULN or LN adapters.

They are worth the price. They won't die on you. Ever. I boiled mine in water for hours. I know.

Noctua if you don't mind the color.

Corsair if you want the looks but lesser performance.

I'll try to input some information that seems to be lacking so far from this thread. Generally, there are two types of fans: static pressure and airflow. Put very simply, airflow optimized fans are ideal for situations where there are no large obstructions near the fan whereas static pressure fans are best for tight places where the air has to be forced a little more.

Radiators and heatsinks benefit from static pressure fans, and air flow optimized fans would be best for an unobstructed exhaust.

When shopping for fans, a few important things to note are the CFM (how much air it can blow, higher is better) and dB (how loud it is as the listed RPM, lower is better). Find a good balance between the two and you're set. I like my Corsair AF140s in my case, but there are other solutions from Noctua, Noiseblocker, and others. I would recommend going with Noctua as I have only heard good things about them and I had significant difficulties with the sound dampening rubber inserts in the Corsair AF140s, but once installed they all move air.

Edit: Just saw your location is Germany, look into NoiseBlocker fans, they may be more readily available there and they are good. I can't find them in stores in the US for some reason, and haven't bothered ordering online yet.

Noctua

I say Noctua.

Also, the difference between intake and exhaust is simply the direction of the fan...no fan specific differences.

Noctua.

I suggest Noctuas with ULN or LN adapters.

They are worth the price. They won't die on you. Ever. I boiled mine in water for hours. I know.

Noctuas for noise efficiency. Corsairs for power my bad I didn't see you say 140mm

Noctua Linus Edition

Noctua if you don't mind the color.

Corsair if you want the looks but lesser performance.

Yay i was already looking at Noctuas as i love my NH-D14.

But my question was which models and what their downsides and advantages are.

it doesnt matter about the intake and exhaust, you just need to orientate the fan so it's blowing out the case.

NF-F12's are pressure (for radiators or tower coolers, preferably), NF-P12 for balance of pressure and airflow, and NF-S12A for airflow.

Well, I threw those out there to give you an idea. Since these would be case fans, I'd go with either the NF-P12 or NF-S12A.
