One BIOS update, couple changes here and there and seems to be working now. Now hoping it continues to do so 🎉

I just checked, it's not there but looking QVL's across all boards this set doesn't show up. If I'm lucky it's just because they were not tested... 🙂

I'll go with the above trial and error, and yes I'll keep all 128GB.

    2. Two dual kits, both sets brand new
    3. Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero

Thanks, I'll have a look at these now, the only issue is if I don't set it right I have to take one RAM out to boot again then change settings, restart then turn off then install and test again.. sounds like fun... xD
I'll keep both, no worries both were brand new in sealed boxes 😉. Both work at 3600 if only 1kit at a time. Seems to be a motherboard+size+speed combination issue. I'll try to OC, give it more V's and see if any results. Otherwise as you say I'll keep the size instead of speed, using it for other applications too where size is more important. I just want to get the speed as it's probably possible so why not :).

I've bought a 120mm fan but my case doesn't have just 80mm and 100mm places.
Bought a Mo-Bo that didn't work with my cpu, then changed it to another one but still didn't work because it needed a bios upgrade. After that it worked. :D
Bought a case that cuts me every time I clean it. And also the HDD makes it really loud from vibration so I have a thin text book between the mo-bo and the back plate.
    :)

I've given up on it, look at my signature, nice PC and peripherals but using a 2014 GPU, the 3080FE for £650 was my choice but definitely not going to pay double that. Sad thing is my laptop works better for games than my PC for this reason 😞 .

Even if you play FPS games and you'd want the crosshair still not worth the Asus for those features.

Wait if you are gonna buy a ryzen 5000, stay away from msi boards, they cause ram to run much slower, even with xmp, here is the thread:

    Hello,

If you are using a PC I recommend of using the 120GB SSD as an OS drive and the 1TB one as for everything else.

If you are using a laptop check if you have space for 2 SSD's and do the same.

If neither then format the new 1TB SSD making partitions like:

C:/ for Windows 100GB (Check on google on how to get exactly 100GB and not 99.9GB if these things bother you)

    D:/ for everything else.

Partitions are always recommended when using 1 drive with windows on the same drive. Reason being that if windows gets corrupted and you reinstall it you can actually format just the partition and all you'd lose is desktop, downloads, browser data and other stuff from C drive but nothing from D drive.

Edit: For the second question in your post.

Yeah just delete all partitions then create a new one and format it. The new one will basically be the drive itself of 120GB (110ish). There's no risk to it other than losing those drivers which you can probably get from your manufacturer's website.

Both my father and I have the exact same SSDs in our systems and there insanely quick for helping us both get the tanks before everyone else in Battlefeild 4, and boot takes at maximum 4 seconds until login so I'm not complaining there  980ti is still absolutely demolishing games at 1440p full AA so fine there also :3 Also can't get any more RAM without a new motherboard and I wouldn't really need any more I don't think but anyway, thank you very much for your reply!

don't bother with the i3, you get within 5% of its performance from the G4560 for way cheaper, and if you really want to VR look second hand, Try find a Pre built machine and just take the MB+CPU+RAM. I'd advise looking for a i7-3770/4770 or a i5-4460. 3rd and 4th gen perform right up there with the new ones just not as energy efficient.

Great source is the new Junk yard wars, you want a store like the one linus and luke went to, one that grabs OEM systems from companies when they upgrade and they re-purpose them. that combo with the new Nvidia cards that only need power from the Slot are perfect for a budget gaming rig. just avoid HP ones, they get realy iffy with Rams and their PSU's are kek. Dell/Lenovo would be fantastic.
