BIOS Update required for X470 with Ryzen 3900X?

according to this page,

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X470-GAMING-PLUS-MAX#support-cpu

Yes its compatible, However Caveat! The results on that page state that its compatible with V17.0 of the bios,

Result X470 GAMING PLUS MAX (MS-7B79) V17.0 BIOS Release

If that is an upgrade then yes you need to do one, if its not then .... Sorry I don't own one. Just reading what I can.

If you can contact the seller to make sure the board is shipping with a compatible BIOS then that's the best way to know.  If you can't contact them then you'll have to hope you're not buying old stock that's been sitting there since before the Ryzen 3000 release.  If it's a popular retailer then you might take comfort in knowing that they've likely replenished their stock since the Ryzen 3000 release and it's a board with a newer and compatible BIOS on it.  If it is shipped with a compatible BIOS then it will have a sticker on the box indicating such.

See below message from @Herman Mcpootis, list of Motherboards from MSI supporting the CPU with your choice of motherboard among them.

This motherboard doesn't support flash bios button so if it won't have the latest bios on it you will need an older CPU to install the BIOS. if you buy it from places like amazon you can easily return it if it doesn't have the latest bios, but it's a lot of time lost on installing the components and you will also need to buy an extra thermal paste to mitigate the need of replacing the CPU into the motherboards.

Maybe @Herman Mcpootis is right but get it confirmed before buying it.
