980 or 1060

Zacm101

GPU prices seem to be declining slightly. Im looking at a potential upgrade and I game at 1080p. Im looking at 300 or less, and so far Ive found a 980, 1060 6gb, or maybe see if i can squeeze out a 980ti (350-450). What do you guys think, I'm buying used on ebay (And I use paypal credit). I have a GTX 670 that I am selling and upgrading from, and buy the looks of it 1050 ti is similar performance.

If you can score a 980 TI for less than $325, that would be the best way to go. $350 is not a bad price either if the card is a high end version like a Classified 980 TI.

If you can't find a 980 TI for a good price, then I'd go with the 6 GB 1060.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

I'd also say 980 Ti. You should be able to find some used on ebay for $350ish

Make sure you get a aftermarket 980 Ti, the Founder's Edition (reference) cooler can't handle the heat load of them.

Unfortunatly cant use a hybrid as I dont have mounting space. Enermax Uber Chakra case, and the only place is already using an aio, (unless i mod case)

Ah, that sucks. A 980 Ti on water is really awesome. If you can overclock it to 1500 MHz, it'll beat most 1070s. My 980 Ti is faster than my 1070, but it runs hotter / takes more power.

I'd offer up my 1070, but the cheapest I can do is to match what I bought them for $400 + you pay shipping.

Sadly the whole sell the GPU during the mining craze isn't so easy apparently...I have them on ebay at $475 (trying to get a miner to bite for the lolz), but they don't seem to like my cards because they were in a server idling for 24/7 for the past yeah. That or I get sob stories about how they can't afford more 1070s to feed themselves / survive off of mining.

Thanks all, I ended up finding a 980ti for 315. Also some great deals on 1060 if you do eBay browsing. Found single fan 6gb for 270 and dual fan 290.
