Mukessh reacted to ReadyToGame in Nexus 4 with 4 different OS
Just look up sideloading android 5.0 lollipop, or just go here for the 5.0 downloads, directly from google, they give you a tutorial for you to do it yourself, if you're a total noob, I'd just ask your friend to do it, he clearly knows what he is doing. Not to say you can't do it, but it has a risk, completely bricking the phone, breaking it so that you can't use it. Then you'd be out of luck and have to buy a new phone all together. Depending on where you live, you may be able to get a Nexus 4 still, but maybe not, since they stopped producing Nexus 5's, and I do believe they stopped producing The nexus early or late last year. But the Nexus 5 is probably still available, if you're really looking for a phone with no risk of loss.

I really don't know what I'm doing with sideloading myself, so I can't give you in depth help, because I am patiently waiting for the Nexus 4 5.0 OTA update (OTA meaning Over the Air update, in which I get the download directly from google, from the system updates tab.)

I think really your best bet would be to ask your friend to sideload Android 5.0 onto the phone for you, as it will wipe the internal storage of the phone completely, getting rid of the multiple installed Operating Systems. If you want to give it a go yourself, here is the link: https://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/index.html

Mukessh reacted to Glenwing in Can you wash a graphics card?
Even if you throw the entire card in water it will be fine.  Water does not damage electronics, electricity damages electronics.  Impure water (i.e. tap water), being conductive, creates bridges and pathways so that the power going through the card can go places it isn't supposed to go, in unregulated amounts.  That's what damages electronics.  Of course this only applies as long as there is power.  If the graphics card is not connected to anything, it's just fiberglass and copper, throwing water on it won't make it spontaneously explode or anything.

The only thing you would need to watch out for is using liquids that will leave behind residue, which will leave conductive pathways behind when it dries.  If you wash it, don't use any soap or chemicals, just as pure water as you can manage.

And drip dry it for a few days before you use it.  Or hit it with a leafblower if you want.  Sticking it in a bag of rice is always a good way to dry it too.

Mukessh reacted to target39 in 7970 and 7950 crossfire
Both graphics card would have to perform at the same level, or else there would be serious crossfire synchronization issues. If you crossfire a 7970 with a 7950, the 7970 will not be optimized for use of its full capability because it has to allow the 7950 to "catch up" with every single frame.
Let's pretend you and Usain Bolt are running the 100m dash as partners and taking your average time (sum of Usain Bolt's and yours, divided by 2) as your final time. The rule is, you cannot be separated from each other by 5m or you will be disqualified. In real life, this means the frames cannot be produced at uneven intervals or else the game will look very stuttery and be rendered useless, if you're lucky enough for it not to crash. Because these are the rules, obviously Usain Bolt will slow down to your speed so that the distance between the two of you are within 5m. The same goes for the 7970. It will slow down to the capabilities of the 7950 so that they synchronize better to limit micro stuttering and other crossfire issues.

    Mukessh reacted to TechFan@ic in GTX 770 or R9 280X ?
I think you're putting down AMD owners a bit here, I genuinely believe the 280X to be the better card regardless of price.
So if I was offered to be given one, not buy one, I'd take the 280X over the 770.

That's due to the reasons mentioned before, which include the significantly higher memory bandwidth which translates into better high resolution performance than the 770, better texture performance than the 770 (Skyrim/Crysis texture packs) & better anti aliasing performance (SSAA,MSAA & SMAA).
The larger memory pool is also of significance here, considering we're already seeing games max out 2GB of VRAM on 1920x1080, a 770 will simply not last you especially now that we're on the verge of a new console cycle.

That's even before we get into Mantle, which has already been confirmed to be supported in all future Frostbite 3 games & Activation PC titles.
And if you do any GPU Compute work on OpenCL, the R9 280X completely eclipses the 770 in terms of performance.
The lower price & the game bundle is just an added bonus in my mind.

Mukessh reacted to quan289 in Rosewill PSU + Haswell ?
Let me rephrase. Technically, most power supply nowadays will be able to support Haswell, as the crossload scenario that the low power state of Haswell put the PSU in will not be so severe that it will cause the OVP/UVP to trip off and power down. And pretty much most of these power supply indeed have this 80+ badge.

However, in order to be officially supported in the eyes of Intel, you need to put it in a scenario where the load of the +12v rail is only 0.15A and max load on the 3.3v/5v rail. While it is a ridiculous way of testing it, many group-regulated design such as the Corsair CX line with the exception of the CX750/m (as it uses a DC-DC convertor on the secondary) will likely fail this testing and will not be "supported", and they are 80+ Bronze power supplies.

Here's a thread Jonnyguru made on it (he is currently working at Corsair, btw): http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10253
"Typically, the PSU, if group regulated, will go beyond 12.6V." Many <$100 USD PSUs are group-regulated and have 80+ certs.
"Yes, no group regulated PSU would pass Intel's testing."

He also tested the CX600 with 5.6A on the 3.3v/5v, where it cause the +12v rail to go out of specification. Max load on the 3.3/5v in accordance to Intel testing are: (130/4.15)/2 = 15.66A. A third of the require load that it had went out of specs.

    Here's another: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story3&reid=318

Look at CL1: The voltage of the 12v rail went out of specs: 13.47V (ATX says it cannot go higher than 12.6v), but there's zero amps on the 12v in that testing
But if you look at the 600w version at TPU: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/PC_Power_Cooling/Silencer_MK3_600W/5.html
Both the 12v and 5v went out of specs.

None of them have been listed as a supported

There are other group regulated designs that have higher certification rating as well such as the Antec Earthwatts Platinum and the other group-regulated Aurum iteration that base on it.
    ______

Anyways, At the end of the day, even though there are power supplies that aren't officially supported doesn't mean you are going to have problems in real world usages. Because of that the whole Haswell compatibility is quite over-hyped. The point I'm trying to make is that the assertion that as long as a PSU has 80+ certification doesn't automatically make the PSU "supported", as Ecova, the company that gives these certification, does not test crossload conditions.

Okay, here's what i would do

PCPartPicker part list   CPU:  AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor  ($159.99 @ Newegg)  CPU Cooler:  Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($29.98 @ Outlet PC)  Motherboard:  Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX  AM3+ Motherboard  ($94.99 @ Microcenter)  Memory:  Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($54.99 @ Newegg)  Video Card:  Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card  ($249.99 @ Newegg)  Case:  NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($84.50 @ Amazon)  Power Supply:  SeaSonic S12II 620W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply  ($71.98 @ Newegg)  Total: $755.42   Didn't know if you needed Windows within that 800$, If you do replace the cpu with a 6300 or the case with something like an elite 210.   Cpu is same as 8350 but with lower clock speed, with this config you can easily overclock it to ~4.2-4.4 Ghz (Depending on luck) with sub 60 temps, and it will perform greatly. Cooler is great, nice price/performance Nice motherboard, if you somehow have spare money the EVO version is a bit better 2*4 GB 1600 Mhz memory, not much to say about that Great video card, can be overclocked nicely and surpass the performance of 760 I personally wouldnt buy a plastic case, but thats your choice. I would recommend a Define R4 - If you want you can downgrade the case to Elite 210 (Not a bad case by any stretch of the imagination) and squish in a 7970. Great Seasonic PSU, Nice headroom if you'd wanna add some other stuff later (Sound card, extra drives etc) No HDD as you said you already had one.
    Both, as seen above.

as said above, this will only be useful for lighting.

RAM does not,and will not heat up to the extent that you will need to monitor it unless you overclock it insanely and take the voltage well over 1.65v (1.5v is recommended),and with the heatsinks that ram has,and usually doesn't need,it would probably still handle temps decently even up to 1.75v.

as to SPD data, any good monitoring program can show it to you.(e.g.HWInfo,CPUID,AIDA64)

and if that program allows you to overclock the ram,and I hope it doesn't,then you shouldn't use that feature, because overclocking,of any kind, should be done in the bios.

In fact most software that comes with motherboards or ram in this case are often thrown away and considered bloatware.
because while it's fun for about 5  minutes, maybe an hour,it just ends up taking up space later on,especially since they usually set themselves to boot with the pc,slowing down boot times.

gotta love norton, telling you what you already know since 1989  ;)

as to the issue at hand.

from the msi afterburner graph it looks like it went up to 1000mhz for a second, then it throttled down to 925 (ik you said 975,but in the image it has it at 925,I think)
could be that furmark is simply believing the drivers attempt to go to 1000mhz,whereas msi afterburner is telling you what actually happened.
I'd consult another application and see what it says,I go by majority rules,so if 7 applications tell me my cpu is at 40C,but 1 says that it's at 501C I'd probably trust the other 7. :P

so yeah consult another program like hwinfo and see what it says.
