AMD based Gaming Build

Mukessh

Hey guys , as from my previous post(Intel Build) , I'v decided to go AMD . Here's what I came up with :

CPU : AMD FX 6350

CPU Cooler : CM Hyper 212X
Mobo : ASRock 970 Extreme 3

RAM : Crucial Ballistix Smart Tracer 2GB (x4)

PSU : Corsair CX500

GPU : Zotac GTX 760 (Reference)

HDD : WD Blue 1TB (Using my old one)

Case : NZXT Phantom 410 .

Any recommendations ?

I'm on a tight budget , and the items above me slightly exceeds my budget . but manageable .

I already have a 23" monitor .

Budget : ~$800 .

For : 1080p Gaming . Mostly Dota , but I do play FC3 , NFS games , and I'm really waiting for BF4 .

an fx 6300 is much cheaper get that instead

then get a nicer mobo for overclocking

aslo get a 7950 instead of a 760 or better yet wait for 9000 series

id get 990 series mobo, and only if you can, go  fx 8320/8350

two sticks of 4 gb ( so you have headroom )

for $800 you say? Easy mate :)

and one suggestion. get AMD GPU. BF4 will run better on it ( presumably, and because its fully dx11 supported)

you could go with 7950, overclocking cheap beast

EDIT: make sure you get at Pcpartpicker.com

Instead of going for 2gb (x4) sticks you could go for 4gb (x2) just for upgrades in the future.

EDIT: Also 7950 would be better choice for this AMD option and overclocks pretty well! :D

Okay, here's what i would do

CPU:  AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor  ($159.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard:  Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX  AM3+ Motherboard  ($94.99 @ Microcenter)
Video Card:  Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card  ($249.99 @ Newegg)
Case:  NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($84.50 @ Amazon)
Total: $755.42

Didn't know if you needed Windows within that 800$, If you do replace the cpu with a 6300 or the case with something like an elite 210.

Cpu is same as 8350 but with lower clock speed, with this config you can easily overclock it to ~4.2-4.4 Ghz (Depending on luck) with sub 60 temps, and it will perform greatly.
Cooler is great, nice price/performance
Nice motherboard, if you somehow have spare money the EVO version is a bit better
2*4 GB 1600 Mhz memory, not much to say about that
Great video card, can be overclocked nicely and surpass the performance of 760
I personally wouldnt buy a plastic case, but thats your choice. I would recommend a Define R4 - If you want you can downgrade the case to Elite 210 (Not a bad case by any stretch of the imagination) and squish in a 7970.
Great Seasonic PSU, Nice headroom if you'd wanna add some other stuff later (Sound card, extra drives etc)
No HDD as you said you already had one.

I can either do :

FX 6350 to 8350 or 760 to 7950 ? Which would be better ?

Both, as seen above.

Stuff I have I like: Moto G - Superlux HD681 Evo - Monoprice 9927

90% of what I say is sarcasm.

If you don't live in the us, then say where you live and what your price point is in your currency : P

670 Beats the 7950, It's just not the same price point.

I live in Malaysia . Here , the 7950 is $310 . While the Reference GTX 670 is $340 . \

And I want to get a case that has good watercooling support . I might decide to water cool the system down the road . I'v seen so many build with the 410 watercooled .

Oh well, imo watercoolers are not really worth it outside braggins rights, I'd rather something like a Silver Arrow (Extreme), but if you think that's something you'd like to brag about and like the 410 then sure.

For the 7950 vs 670 it will be 5 fps difference, in varying favor (Once overclocked)

If the Asus one is a DirectCU II, go for that one. And overclock it like crazy.

Grab an FX-6300 it's cheaper.  Get 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz, they make some for about 55 bucks.  Otherwise the GTX 760 beats the HD 7950 in wow, and most games at stock, but when overclocked the HD 7950 pulls ahead pretty much across the board.

Specs: Core I7-2600K @ 4.5GHz @ 1.35V, 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance Black 1600MHz CL9, Cooler Master Evo 212, MSI Z77 Mpower Motherboard, Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X @ 1000/1400, Cooler Master HAF 932 Blue Edition w/ 3 Cougar Hydraulic Bearing 120MM fans (2 up top 1 in the bottom) replaced side panel with a window, and rear fan with a Cougar Hydraulic Bearing 140MM, Cooler Master GX 650 80+ Bronze PSU, Samsung DVD-RW, Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD, Seagate 750GB SATA III 7200RPM

Get a 7950 instead of 760. You better off with 2x4gb ram because maybe after few years, you can upgrade to 16gb ram.

Go 8350 and 7950 will perform better with bf4 since it is a amd gamin evo and much better cost plus games now are going to be core optimized because consoles are running 8 core and they are amd cores making amd you gamin choice, also I have a 8350 and the cooling is a bitch you either make your own liquid cooling solution because a close loop may not be enough especially if overclocking
