Acquire got a reaction from Syndakit in Acer Predator X34 vs X34A?
The panel and monitor itself are the same. The only difference is the stand. The x34a uses an updated version of the stand that the x34 uses. Pivot support is the main feature. It's the same stand that was seen on the x34p Acer showed at computex. Linus did a video on it.

I would wait for CES 2017 and see what's announced.  With the current generation of GPUs from nvidia and amd supporting display port 1.4, I'm hoping to start seeing higher refresh rate monitors in the 3440x1440 resolution.

Been wanting a small build away from my huge atx cases that were mostly empty space.
The idea was for a compact, air cooled build with top end hardware.  I am running an Acer X34 3440x1440 at 100Hz.
Case: Fractal Design Node 304 Black  Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Impact  CPU: i7-6700k  CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U9S (if only I could get a redux colored 92mm fan for the cpu cooler)  Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB  GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1080 Strix Advanced  PSU: Corsair SF600 Using silverstone bracket and custom cables from cable mod's configurator.  These cables are great and blow away the ones that come with the PSU.  Strongly recommend anyone building similarly to get some of these cables.  Aesthetics aside, they're actually workable for tight situations and make the building process far simpler.  Storage: Samsung 830 PRO 256 GB and 840 EVO 1TB (os/core and games respectively).   Using a phanteks double ssd bracket and some Scotch Restickable Tabs to secure it.   Cable Mod Configurator Specs:    24 Pin: 250mm    4+4 Pin EPS: 200mm    Dual 6+2 Pin PCI-E: 200mm -> 100mm    Dual SATA Power: 200mm -> 100mm     First bit could've been 150mm, may end up changing that piece of it.   Second bit could easily be 50mm, however, I wanted it longer so that it could kind of comb over and not just be sticking out.   SATA 3 Data: 300mm
From my research, this is the best mini itx case I've found for my needs.  Compact, but without compromising being able to fit long and tall GPUs, big CPU coolers, and being able to cool things properly.  I really like the looks of it as well.
Some additional bits can be found here.

Acquire got a reaction from ARikozuM in The need for G-Sync?
G-sync is made for exactly your case. 60 fps on 100 Hz monitor will result in a lot of screen tearing. G-sync will remove that. I went from a 144Hz (original rog swift) monitor to the Acer x34 and I don't regret it at all.  The extra width is great and 100 Hz is fine for me.

Cooling hasn't been an issue for me in the case.  I've got three 120 mm front intakes and two 120 mm top exhaust with the 140 mm rear exhaust.  This is on a system with two non reference 980 Tis in sli. All are noctua redux fans.

Acquire got a reaction from Tzeentch in Get Sennheiser 800s or Amp ?
I recommend the ifi micro ican se headphone amp (http://ifi-audio.com/portfolio-view/micro-ican-se/).  Compact, plenty of power, and most importantly it has some epic bass boost and sound stage widening features.  Headphones sound glorious through it.  I am a lover of bass so this amp definitely hit the spot for me.  I've listened to multi thousand dollar amp/dac setups and they did not impress for the money when compared to what the micro ican se can do.

Make sure whatever headphone you get you understand its inherent sound signature.  I personally don't like Sennheiser's headphones.  They sound really bland and have terrible bass.  The HD800 suffers from this greatly and, for the money, in my opinion, is a terrible headphone.  Also, don't try and aggressively tune (via EQ, DACs, or Amps) the sound signature of headphones to match what you want.  That's just a waste of time and money.  Find headphones that by default have a signature you like and then build on top of that.  The idea of buying something you like and making it better vs buying something you dislike and making it not terrible.

In my example, I find darker or mildly warm headphones with good bass extension and decent sound stage and then just amplify that.

Acquire got a reaction from Zaii in Asus PG279Q - Current state of QC?
I bought one a few months ago.  Had no backlight bleed or dead pixels.  Had some minimal IPS glow on the bottom right. Never tried to see if it could overclock to 165Hz.  Asus did impose a better QC process since the original release.  They now require someone to view the monitor in a low lit environment to check for backlight bleed and IPS glow.  I'm pretty sure I read this somewhere in one of Asus' responses to the bad reviews.  When I was researching buying it most recent reviews seemed better than the initial batches.

The sad truth is that all these high end monitors have absurdly bad QC issues given their high end price.

I'd suggest buying your monitor from Amazon.  They're really good on returns.  They'll ship replacements without you having to first send back the original item so you don't get stuck without a monitor.  I replaced my PG279Q last week with the Acer x34.  Replacement for that first Acer x34 is on the way.

Acquire reacted to Shoob in New mouse to replace Razer Deathadder 3.5G
The Zowie EC-A series resemble the shape of the Deathadder without having any gimmicks and are driverless (there are DPI presets you can choose from). They come in two versions - EC1-A and EC2-A. Zowie mice use Huano switches, which are a bit stiffer than the Omrons found in the Deathadder and the Castor. They are usually the choice of most CS GO players.

The Mionix Castor is smaller than the EC2-A. It comes down to the shape you prefer and the features you need. They both use the same sensor.

Here's a comparison between the three I found:

That review is for the original H440. In 2015 nzxt updated the case to increase air flow significantly by making the gaps in the front and top of the case larger.  You most likely have the updated model. I run a dual 980 Ti setup (non reference) in this case with no cooling problems.

That's not possible. There isn't enough room. The fans would also not do much up there since the vents are on the sides of the top. The fans would be right up against the solid top panel. That case really needed to be taller.

AMD's new gpu architecture is going to allegedly use dp 1.3 isn't it? I'm hoping Nvidia uses it with Pascal. That would mean that by the end of the year, we'd have dp 1.3 capable video cards. Especially for high end monitors, like Asus' 4k ips g-sync monitor, I don't see why they wouldn't go with a 120Hz panel and dp 1.3.
