I found the root cause, it was the cable from the dc socket. I soldered it back, now GPUZ reads the bios and thr clocks and the 4gb memory, i just need to get it to be stable now, probably driver clean installs

Plenty of LiveUSB Linux Distros. Linux Mint is very Windows-like.

    Thats what a Failure is.
My 2080Ti is over a year old, if it just stops allowing me to do things, crashes and freezes like your issues, I tend to think it just died somehow.
You've already done the troubleshooting, and have the same symptoms.

If it works as a Basic Display Adapter you can still use the PC (No Drivers installed/attached to cause failure)
Desktop is a 3D environment (DWM.exe is Desktop Windows Manager, it's GPU assisted)
2D mode still works though likely,..and Windows will look a little more basic, but it'll likely work)

GPU acts as a hardware acceleration, you still need a CPU to manage the GPU to work per se even on a fully CUDA based rendering.

Listen as someone who owns an i9 9900K, it's not worth it, new Ryzen 3000 processors are gold, they offer unbeatable price to performance.

Intel is *not* a premium brand anymore and for gaming unless you are going 1080p240hz which is a gimmick and you shouldn't you won't be CPU bottlenecked, even with a 2080 Ti you are likely to run into GPU bound scenarios most of the time.

That's my two cents if anything.

Actually the software I wrote doesn't bake that stuff in, it's a full blown WYSIWYG drag and drop editor that allows a user to draw a gauge/video/image, select a sensor to tie it to and thats it ? I wanted people to be able to customize it any way they see fit that suits their case and theme.

d4n1Xd34th reacted to Princess Luna in Buy Ryzen 7 3700X or i9-9900X
Definitely the upcoming Zen 2 Ryzen 7 3700X ~ Ryzen 7 3800X ~ Ryzen 7 3900X then, they will offer you significantly better value for performance, delivering the performance you need.

Forget the i9 9900K, the only case it will still be a viable alternative is where it can truly make use if QuickSync iGPU Hardware Acceleration like in Premiere Pro, if not, it's an "obsolete" CPU when the Ryzen 7 3900X can be purchased instead.

Depending on how in-depth you want it to be, Buildzoid's video breakdowns might be interesting:

They will require some Googling/prior knowledge, but he goes over the most intricate parts of these motherboards (like the VRM's and such), but he doesn't go over the 'simple things' like fan headers in detail (unless there is something really interesting).

A few weeks ago we received some VERY sad news - due to a patent troll, our friends at Puget Systems have been forced to cease production and sales on their awesome series of mineral oil PC starter kits (you can read more about what happened here). This hits pretty close to home for our company, as Puget's mineral oil systems piqued Luke's interest a few years ago, which eventually led to him building his own mineral oil system.

First off, we would like to thank Puget Systems for providing this awesome service to the community. As they have mentioned quite a few times in the past, this was a passion project for them more than anything else, and we are sad to see it end this way.

But now that we have the sad news out of the way, there is a pretty sweet silver lining for the Linus Tech Tips community...

Since they cannot sell the kits that they currently have in stock, Puget Systems is GIVING AWAY four of their remaining mineral oil PC kits to four lucky members of this community. There are three Mini ITX kits and one MATX kit available.

Unfortunately, this giveaway is only open to residents of the Continental United States and Canada. We wish we could give everyone in the world the mineral oil PC hook-ups, but it isn't feasible to ship these kits internationally

    How do I enter?
Leave a comment below to enter in the draw. One comment (entry) per user. I have a feeling that Puget will be checking this thread periodically, so feel free to leave some positive words for them - were you inspired by their awesome kits? Did they get you interested in mineral oil PCs? Are there any cool projects you would like to see them take on in the future?

Also, please mention (in your comment) which variation of kit you would prefer if you are chosen as one of the lucky winners. This will NOT have an impact on winner selection, but it will make it easier to assign a kit to each winner.

Entries close December 18 at 4pm PT, so be sure to leave you comment here before that time. The winner will be selected on December 19.

    IMPORTANT NOTE
If you are lucky enough to win one of these kits, you MUST provide us with proof of purchase for mineral oil BEFORE the kit will be shipped to you. These are four of the last kits available from Puget, and they are only going to be given away to community members who are serious about building a mineral oil PC.

    Thanks everyone, and good luck!

EDIT: I've seen some concerns in the thread about getting the mineral oil by December 19. There will be a grace period of one week for winners to provide us with proof of purchase. Just reply and let us know that you will be purchasing the oil when you can, and forward the proper paperwork when it is available.

I can't find the article but someone else who plays one of those racing sim games at the championship level also got a chance to try the real thing and he did surprisingly well despite having no experience outside of games. The only thing that kept him from completing a full race was he didn't have the physical fitness to do so (not that he was obese or anything, but it does take a high level of physical fitness to be able to throw a car around like that)
