spirals got a reaction from nox_ in OEM/Tray Vs. Retail
I saw a 2300x deal, only its cheaper than a 2200g. Its a tray processor, meaning that they only give the proc. and hsf, without the box. The chip is packaged in plastic, like how eggs are packaged in egg cartons, and HSF is packaged in a black box. The seller claims that its new, and gives warranty for 3 yrs. Is it a good deal? The retail version will be coming in a few months. Should i wait or..?

I have a picture of someone buying  it. Sorry if it isnt in HD

Alright so like, 20 of my friends will come over to my house, and since my house doesn't really fit much for all 20. And I have little or no interesting things in my house to mess around with, by me asking this question you can already tell I'm not that popular/likeable. I'm a broke videogame addict, and I need your help.

*Please note that if you're thinking we should play any PS4 games together, nah I only got 2-3 controllers or so.

spirals reacted to Skiiwee29 in How do I prevent CPU Cooler being too big for my case?
Your case will have a Max CPU clearance, just make sure whatever cooler you buy.. is at or under than value. Thats how you prevent it. It only happens from people who dont research there products and parts they buy before buying them.

RTX 2060 uses up to around 160 watts.
RX 570 can consume up to 175 watts.

A Ryzen 5 1600 will probably peak at around 80 watts. For example Ryzen 5 2600 was measured at 78 watts here : https://www.anandtech.com/show/13945/the-amd-ryzen-5-2500x-and-ryzen-3-2300x-cpu-review/19

Motherboard and ram will consume around 20-40 watts.
A mechanical drive will consume around 5-10 watts.

    So 160 (video) +80 (cpu)+50 (mb+ram)+10(hdd) + 5w (fans) = 305 watts

Reasonably below the 400w rating of the psu.

Your only concern is if the power supply can supply enough current on 12v.
Since video card and CPU are both powered from 12v, you need the power supply to provide at least 160+80 = 240w plus some margin for safety on 12v... let's say 300w on 12v alone... 300w / 12v = 25A of current.

If you look on beQuiet's website at your model : https://www.bequiet.com/en/powersupply/928
you have the datasheet in the downloads section : https://www.bequiet.com/admin/ImageServer.php?ID=13998a9765@be-quiet.net&rand=94286a72b1c0652a7d605e817a80bbbf&lang=1&force=true&download=true&omitPreview=true
and there you can find the specifications:

so your power supply can provide 32A or 384w on 12v ... basically the power supply provides all power on 12v, and uses dc-dc converters to produce 3.3v and 5v as needed from these 384 watts.
If your motherboard or SSD or 5v light strip or whatever consumes 20 watts on 5v, the dc-dc converters in the psu take around 21-22 watts from the 12v budget and convert those 21-22 watts into 3.3v and 5v, around 20 watts of them (you lose a bit of power, those 1-2 watts, due to efficiency losses, pretty much no conversion is lossless in electronics)

Yes, you can even use a VEGA64, with some tweaks (go 2 down 2 steps, -50mV and -23% Power Target).

I know, I tried today with my Pure Power 10 and played an hour or so Division 2 w/o VSYNC.

Your system is somewhere around 200W or lower.

Yeah, Ryzen 5 1600 and RTX 2060 will be fine on the BQ Pure Power 10 400W.
Except you should wait a few weeks for Ryzen 3000 Zen2 processors instead. You already have a CPU so there shouldn't be any real rush to buy a replacement CPU now.

It means that the motherboard is of Micro-ATX standard.

    The common standards are:

    E-ATX (Largest)
    ATX (Normal)
    M-ATX (Smaller)
    Mini-ITX (Tiny)

spirals reacted to Labeled in ok so, is my motherboard capable of overclocking?
you'll only find out how high you can go by trying it, and it's usually a lot harder to kill a chip or board than you think. For example a lot of people can reach 5.2GHz on the 7700k under 1.4v, but I have to be at 1.46 to even reach 5.15. Sometimes you get a bad bin that makes it hard to get stability. I say go for it, worst case you still find an OC that is higher than boost and stable, best case maybe you get above just 4GHz. Good luck!

The x470m pro4 is pretty similar to its ATX counterpart, still better for overclocking.

In terms of sheer overclocking performance, the X370 will be better. But for a 2200g, that board is complete overkill and a b450 will overclock it to likely the same speed as well.

The X370 is miles better, the B450 only has a 4 pin CPU power connection and worse power phases.
I would say that overall the X370 is solid because I doubt OP wants the 2200g forever.

I don't know how old are you but I spend most of my days on my PC. That's because I am old (turn 69 in a few days) and practically all my friends are dead. I'm a retired mechanic so I'm disabled from heavy work.

You say you have very little friends and I can understand that what with people stabbing you in the back. I see it everywhere, even with my so called friends. They're dead I'm not.

All you can do is to take care of yourself. Don't sit all day, Get up and move around, go out for a walk. Get some exercise and fresh air.

The rest is up to you. ?

holly crap dude, I wasn't saying his computer was going to use 380 watts. Also I realize that the curve starts at 62% and then goes to about 80-92% efficiency above 20%.

If you look at what I said nothing is inaccurate. Are you hoping Tech Jesus will see that you argued on a form and get knighted by his holy ram stick? A new user asked if his power supply was good for his build, it clearly is.

What do you do for work? That may be a simple and productive way to get into some social circles.

Gaming gets a bad rap from a lot of people but it’s only when it hinders us from living the life we should that it becomes an issue. Same with most other things really (drinking, movies, even outdoor activities like hiking)

I think gaming has been a very healthy thing for me. Though admittedly, it’s an extremely rare occasion that I put more than 1 or 2 hours into it in a day (I’m married and work 40+ hours a week)

Personally, I attend church, spend time with family, and spend time with certain coworkers. Most of my friends fall into at least one of those categories as it relates to me. That’s my community. It’s healthy to be around people. Maybe not all the time but it’s healthy to have people in your life.

in your personal time maybe take up a hobby like reading, lego building, or maybe writing. There’s so much out there. If you feel gaming is not a good use of your time 6-8 hours a day there are other things to do.

Not sure where you live but you could try joining a local YMCA.  Get into a couple pick up basketball games.

Do you like to read?  Head over to the library.  There are book clubs you can join.

Or just go for a walk.  If you want some non-human interaction local animal shelters are always looking for volunteers to help walk the dogs.
