Mister Woof reacted to Analog in I'm switching to an Intel CPU from an AMD CPU, what will I have to do
Reinstalling Windows will be highly recommended when switching platforms. Otherwise you risk conflicting chipset drivers causing random BSODs.

every ram module i have does that
i have 16 DDR4 modules
as i understand it, this is by design

They should, just make sure it fits in your case. Also return the 9700k if its possible

400 is LGA 1200 though, so it will only do 10 or 11
100 - 6th 7th
200 - 6th 7th
300 - 8th 9th

Z170 is incompatible with the 9700k. You can only use a 6 or 7 series CPUs on a Z170/Z270 board.. you would need a 3 series Motherboard to support a 9 series processor.
Edit: Removed 4 series Boards, thats LGA 1200.. not 1151.

Mister Woof got a reaction from Herkul in Is I9 10850K still worth the buying? It is 450 USD cheaper here than 5900X
I'd go with one of the better units on this list
DRP4 should be from everything I've read - it looks like a good cooler as well, just make sure the case and the memory will fit it

Mister Woof got a reaction from Opica15 in 5600X or i5 11600k?
In this case a 11400F + Deepcool Gammaxx400 + B560 + 16GB 3600 DDR4 makes the most sense.

Mister Woof got a reaction from Opica15 in 5600X or i5 11600k?
Depends on location I guess. Cheapest B560s in the States are around $110 or so, and with a locked i5 it's not really going to matter too much. Decent boards are around $120-150. For a 5600x, I'd probably go about the same price for a B550.

Nice

Performance is similar with the 5600x edging out on top, but once you factor in the cost of cooling, the 11600k costs about the same.
That said I'd probably get an aftermarket cooler for the 5600x, too.

Mister Woof reacted to SorryBella in Buying a used delidded 10900K with a copper heat spreader
There's a saying in a car community: Dont buy someone else's project car unless its from your friend or family.
Same sentiment here. Dont get modded components unless you know that seller wont ghost (your close friends/family members). But if it is in a massive bargain, go on frankly.

Mister Woof reacted to Motleyguts in Is switching motherboards straightforward?
I swapped from intel board to amd board and just restored a full system image backup to the new drive. Fired right up. Win10 Home OEM deactivated, and I just clicked a prompt to let it know I swapped hardware. It immediately activated without a hitch. Now, I imagine it wouldn't let me do this everyday though 😄
Sometime down the road I do plan to do a clean install, but I also wanted to know how smooth this process would be and I got my answer.

I agree. I remember when In n Out came to Texas. I like a greasy, juicy burger as much as the next person.
But this just... pooled grease. Like a disgusting amount of grease. It just tasted like oil and fat.

McDonald's tastes better than In-N-Out.

MacDonalds actually specifically bred special potatoes for their fries. It cost them ownership of the business. The farmer they hired to grow the potato’s was eventually able to force them out. Poorly written contract.
MacDonalds potato’s are unusually large and low moisture

I don't know much about those adapters, so yeah definitely do your homework on those if this is a feature you need.

Since you state budget is an issue for you, I would not consider replacing the memory.

It's high quality, feels pretty solid. I have two of them, got on sale.
Also fits huge air coolers if that's your thing.
Front panel design is not as good on airflow as the newer 4000D or 5000D airflow, and probably not as good as the Phanteks P400a/500a.
Also a little weirdly designed from a cosmetic stance.
But I have no complaints.
