BuT iT lo0kS bEtTer aNd iTs faStER!! No. The human eye can only see up to 60fps. You can have it a bit higher incase it stutters, but people with over 80fps only do it so they can say “mY gAmIng pC rUnS At 120 fPs iM s0 koOl!” Reduce it for better graphics.

30-50 ft you want optical hdmi (fiber optic hdmi)
copper on long runs degrades, its why it can be hit or miss. usually 1080, 1440 20-25ft work, 4k 60 up to 15ft. 4k 120 6-10ft
but for your earc you will need a hybrid optical cable (it has copper line for earc) if thats a long length
as for brand just make sure it has a 2.0 or 2.1 hdmi ultra certification

No, the windows extension is specific for certain display only and it is not support any Dolby Vision TV on the market.

They is a thread discussion about this previously and many people try, include myself and the extension from Microsoft Store (you need to Google as it is hidden) did nothing.

You're going to find that most PC enthusiasts aren't using a surround sound system on their machines.  I used it for many years but when I moved 6 years ago I changed over to a desk setup and onto headphones.

Looks like I was the unlucky one to have check for updates early. Seem that they have pulled it or excluded it for some GPUs.

That said, what I do want to say, that I am angry because it is not the only issue. I feel like with AMD, is that once you have drivers that work... just don't touch it. While with Nvidia, the worst you get 99% of the time, is some specific game has some performance issue or crashes... not the end of the world. In AMD case, this is serious downtime. In the sense that unexpectedly affects a portion of your day, then you need to diagnostic it, then you need to try and play with the driver settings, then when all fails, you DDU the thing and install back the older drivers. That is 1h+ lost.

Thanks for the advice! We ended up visiting a specialty audio store and they set us up with a Marantz AV, Focal speakers and an SVS 1000 sub. I am in LOVE! . To anyone reading this you MUST try the speakers in person. We tried Paradigm, Sonus Faber, Focal and KEF. They all sounded very different and we went with Focal because we enjoy clarity and a "cold" speaker. We looked at those brands of speakers because those were the brands that hit our budget of 3k. We plan to add rears once we save up a bit more. Hope this post helps others.

what you asking for recommendations exactly?
    avr? denon x6700h 3300.00 or x8500ha 4600.00....marantz sr8015 5200.00.....yamaha RX-A8A AVENTAGE 3550.00
these are basically the best 4 you can get for 11.1 without going preamp avr with a bunch of amps
(there even a couple higher end brands but i have no clue about them)

if you want to go preamp avr with amps then thats another beast and costly

then there are 9.1 avrs that support 11.1 with one stereo amp running 2 speakers that denon and marantz have (not sure about yamaha)

and hdmi (if going for 2.1 hdmi speeds) i would make sure its certified and i would go optical hdmi (over 6ft can be hit or miss on copper with hdmi 2.1)

May have just answered my own question with some additional Amazon searches.  The cable linked above doesn't appear to be bidirectional, but I found another one (https://www.amazon.ca/DisplayPort-CableCreation-Thunderbolt-Compatible-MacBook/dp/B08BY78C42) that specifically indicates that it *is* bidirectional and can use the DP end on a PC as a "source" and a USB-C connected monitor.  Hmmm.  Might give this a shot...
