So today I brought it to school to work on it, I found out where I'm mounting the power supply (and had to pull it out of its case because it was too big) and figured out how to mount this cooler

Eh, I'm not opposed to pulling apart one of my old monitors to use for this, and put it in like a laptop screen.

Then again, this could also be a bit easier if I don't try to make it like a laptop and instead just a portable pc

    What's up,
The backstory of this build is my sister impulse bought a phonograph from a Barnes and Noble, and it was really shitty and apparently the brand has a reputation for breaking records. She's gotten a new player and doesn't need this any more, so she gave it to me to mess around with.

I've just upgraded pretty much my whole desktop from a i7 3770 to a R5 1600 (AF), and despite the record player sucking, the box looks pretty cool so I want to see if I can build a PC into it, maybe include a monitor in the top too.

This thing was insanely easy to pull apart, just 6 screws and the whole thing came out in one piece. There's also already the start of a hole I can use for rear IO

Are you certain you have everything plugged in correctly? Does anything at all happen when you press the power button (fans spinning, motherboard lights, the power supply turning on, etc)?

If it was a broken CPU, the mobo would power on when pressing the power button, but the system wouldn't post. Same with RAM or in some cases your video card.

Looks good! If you want to save a bit you really don't need that CPU cooler because the one that comes with the 3600 is quite decent.

I haven't even read all the way through or watched the video but wanna say thanks for making a guide on how to set up your own personal VPN. I've tried tons of times with openVPN but have just never managed to get it to work, so I'm excited to see if this'll work for me.

I'd rather get a ryzen, since you need to buy a new board and new ram anyways.
    I'd reccommend either a 3600(X) or 3700(X)
for a board you might want to look into the new motherboard guide v2, where I would opt for a B550 or a X570 if you really want to spent the max amount of money for a little bit better OC, then you might want to consider a 3950X

I think an easier way to go about it would to just get a 1U rack shelf (like this) and place your computer in the rack with everything else.

Why not upgrade to a 3600? you probably won't have to get a new mobo too.

I would change the PSU for a TX550M and change the GPU for either:
    - a 2060 Super for a bit more, if you want to stay Nvidia
    or
    - a 5700XT

    Looks good to me otherwise.

Do you have another gpu in it? If yes are you plugged into it, not the mobo?
If not, you need to get a dedicated gpu as the 2600 does not have an integrated gpu

Adorable Cat reacted to WereCatf in I upgraded my CPU and now my computer won't work!
Are you plugging your display into the motherboard's display-output? The Ryzen 5 2600 doesn't have a built-in GPU, so you can't use the motherboard-connectors for your display.

In Radeon Settings you should be able to find what the hotkey is to hide it (I don't remember off the top of my head what it is)
