SSDs have built in overprovisioning, so you don't need to force yourself to leave some space free. Having more free than that might or might not help a bit, but I really wouldn't worry about it. If you really want to limit the amount of drive that can be used, you can reduce the size of the partition holding data on it.

I have a SSD without DRAM cache as well that is filled up with only 10GB left (out of 480). Not a problem with the games already installed, drive wear is at 95% at the moment. The games that are on there don't get any updates anymore so no write operations really. For work intensive stuff I am old school, I have a RAID 0 with 2 WD Gold 2 TB drives.
Also my Crucial SSD came with a Software called Crucial Storage Executive, that has an option to utilize RAM for better caching, I haven't tried it though.

I just use HWInfo64 but you can use other utilities like it. Most drive makers will offer some kind of tool that shows the wear level.

Windows is lying to you and Steam is telling the truth.
Your drive is 512GB (roughly), which is 477GiB (roughly). Windows uses the latter way of showing numbers, where (simply put) 1 = 1024, while the drive manufacturer (and Steam) show GB where 1 = 1000.

So Windows should actually say your drive is 478GiB (Gibibyte)
For the best performance you'll want to keep a portion free.
This drive uses some of its memory as an SLC cache, which it needs plenty of space to keep the cache.
    Nah

512 GB or 511.98 is the unformatted capacity while 478 will actually be usable. My ADATA 512 shows 475 GB usable, so that's fine.
You don't have to reserve space, but I would recommend to regularly look at the wear level of the drive. Should it reach 50 percent, you may start loosing data or the entire drive.
Make sure to have write intensive tasks (big files) on a mechanical drive or use a cheap SATA-SSD that you can live without and have easily replaced, should it ever die.

You likely have a SSD that has no DRAM on it if that's the behavior.

The other possibility is that the drive is too full. SSD's only operate at their maximum speed up until they get to the n*chips point, then they're cut by how many chips are on it. So if it's a 2-chip SSD, then when it's more than 256GB filled, it will slow down.

You should also not be filling a SSD past 75% if you can help it, as you will quickly destroy the overprovisioning on it.

So 30% of 512GB is 153.6GB. Uninstalled a bunch of games. Have 223GB open now. Downloading For Honor, around 65 Gigabytes so it would leave me with around 158, which is above the threshold.

Ill post the results in a bit, so far so good.

I also swapped the port again for the SATA cable.

obviously if you want another case. get another one...but at this price bracket...costs skyrocketed from the ChineseUS tariffs.

also..if you are anywhere close to a microcenter..you can save enough money on deals that you could maybe swing for a r5 2600 for same cost. with their CPU/Motherboard Combos

BIOS Flashback allows you to update the BIOS version of a mb with a USB thumbdrive.

    using a computer.

    You go to https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-A-PRO

and read the BIOS versions...get any downloads required to update to a bios that is compatible with Ryzen 3

Get a USB thumbdrive and place the bios and other files onto it.

boot with the usb drive in the correct ubs slot.

go to bios update area of the UserInterface and you should be able to see your files and choose them.

SSHD is like a HDD with a small bit of super fast storage. Think of it kind of like Intel Optane, it accelerates frequently accessed files but they are generally pretty crap. I would go with a 240GB SSD to start with and then toss in a HDD later on down the line.

Just trading CS:GO for another game seems like a bad idea, it doesn't actually address the reason why you get addicted in the first place. Personally, I would recommend doing a Google-search for actual, proper services that help you deal with addiction; they know their shit, they'll give more constructive, long-term advice. You may have a natural affinity for gambling-addiction and it's best to deal with it now, rather than one day when you lose your house and car and end up on the street. At least you recognize you have a problem, I'm just worried about the path you're trying to take to deal with it.

You also didn't mention how old you are, but you do mention school: if you still live with your parents, it would be a good idea to ask them to get you some help with your addiction.
