    Can't help but post this.

IBM Model F AT. Just got done restoring this, though it didn't need much as it was basically in new condition. Pretty much just cleaned the keycaps and the top of the barrel plate. Didn't even have any rust and the foam was perfect.

Yeah, so the other day I was opening up a power supply because the fan stopped spinning. I thought the fan went out and I opened the PSU up. I accidentally touch on of the capacitor (didnt know they were dangerous) and now I'm writing this in a hospital.

People do not open up PSU unless you are super confident in your knowledge around this stuff.

Getting electrocuted isn't fun don't try this at home.

It belongs to them, they can chuck it in a landfill, strip it for parts or use it as a coffee table if that's what they choose to do with it. "Deserving or cherishing it is irrelevent.

You also don't know why they're selling it anyway, maybe he needs the cash more than a PC for a myriad of different reasons.

    Did you DDU before reinstall?

I've just updated the driver on a few of my systems today, and everything still seems to be working as normal.

99% of the time, if you're having issues with GPU drivers or GPU driver-related programs, you should use DDU in safe mode to cleanly uninstall your current drivers + software -> reboot -> then install the newest versions -> reboot again.

If the issue still persists, THEN it's a real problem.

you no longer need a dex docking station to use as pc replacement, a hdmi to type c will now work, however you are limited to aprox 5 windows open at once

the base line model will come with 128gb of storage and 6gb of ram, and a 512 gb option will be available with 8gb of ram (that means a 1tb phone is possible.

they are focusing on games when they release the phone, our rep would not confirm but most-likely a 120hz + display (same res as note 8)

the s pen now has bluetooth, a remapable button, and a 3 hour aprox batter life with a 45 second recharge time. the pen can be used to take pictures as well from normal bluetooth 5.0 range.

software changes to the AR functions. no camera changes

MIDNIGHT BLACK WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UPON RELEASE IN THE US! (as of current releases from samsung to us)

but best buy gets a fairly cool blue one again but with a yellow pen.

(pens may be sold separately in different colors, samsung rep had hear about it but no official statement made to him)

My piece of advice: try the switches before you buy. No amount of research will help you.

The typing response from mechanicals vs membrane is otherworldly, it's clicky and responsive on mechanical so you know exactly when you've entered a key, membranes have this force about them where you can't tell it's registered, at least in my experience. It's also well regarded that mechanical keyboards have a longer lifespan than membranes due to the mechanical switch nature of the keyboards.
A bonus is the click when you press a key is really nice to hear.

a thousand times yes to this right here. I type on a Corsair K68 and I came from a Logitech keyboard that was just standard membrane keyboard. Holy the satisfying click noise I hear with every key press is amazing and honestly have noticed a speed boost in my typing.

mech reacted to Ryujin2003 in What's so great about mechanical keyboards?
I have a K70 mechanical, and it is amazing. The keys feel much more crisp and responsive than the membrane keyboards I have. I really prefer typing on it more than I do my laptop keyboard. I have upgraded, and will never go back to membrane keyboards. Yes, they can be a little loud, but the responsiveness in feel is definitely worth it.

I tested out some at a local Best Buy that were on display, and found I liked the Cherry MX Reds the best. If you want to try, go to a store that has display models.

Why? When your job has to do with typing things all day, it's better to have a keyboard that feels great to type on all day

Cherry MX is a brand of mechanical switches. The colors are different kinds of switch, the videos above will have more information about that.

The Logitech G502 might be for you, it has the same layout in terms of additional programmable buttons and is relatively the same shape. Just watch for the size, the G502 is kind of large.

for real. after two years of slamming the fucker against my desk in rage, the scroll wheel click only just now lost the tactile click. (it still works just the click is more subtle)
i ordered another immediately because it is without a doubt the highest quality mouse i have ever used
