Vatablous reacted to Ezzy-525 in MRT-KB890830.exe
MRT files are Microsoft's "Malicious software Removal Tool" (MRT) and the KBxxxxxxx numbers are the version that has been installed. The numbers change as the updates are monthly, so may differ from Google results depending on the date of the results.
It should be ok, but keep your AV and Anti-Malware definitions updated and run checks regularly if you don't already.

Most often the free proxies are just worse versions of their paid counterparts that's why I came here to see if anyone knew of any that were run non-profit.

Vatablous reacted to divito in Should I have my speaker at max volume?
Ultimately, at max volume, the stresses can simply be higher based on the sound. And as I was typing, iMunch replied with great detail.~

Vatablous reacted to iMunch in Should I have my speaker at max volume?
TL;DR If it is clipping, it is too loud
As long as the amplifier is not distorting, and is matched to the wattage of the speaker it should be fine. The two main things that kill speakers is heat, and over-extension of the diaphragm (bottoming out). If you turn it up high enough that you hear clipping or distorting, it means the the sound signal is more closely resembling a square wave rather than a sine wave, which damages the speaker in two ways: 1) the speaker voice coil needs to dissipate more heat, as the square wave typically carries about 1.4x the amount of power for the same amount of movement (sound output) in the speaker. This power is dissipated as heat in the coil, and 2) the voice coil does not cool down as effectively, since for the majority of the time for a square wave (especially in bass sounds) the diaphragm isn't moving which in turn limits the movement of the air behind the diaphragm to cool the coil. This melts the glue holding the coil together and "blows" your speaker.

I've waited 5 minutes after reading this post just for a Vanilla server to start up on my RPi3, so I guess there's your answer I'd doubt modded will be any better.

I have a 3 page spreadsheet i'm working on, but holy crap is it time consuming. Most of the cards I have atleast run a pass of 3dmark just to confirm they are working when they arrive. But I have been focusing on a couple cards I've been building dedicated gaming system around at the moment. But I am slowly building the spreadsheet that covers games & synthetic tests too.
it looks like this so far and that's just the PCI-E tab.

Creeperhost or whatever you said earlier is a reselling company. They buy datacenter hosted servers and charge you more. Use OVH. Other companies like NFO will disappoint you. Not to mention OVH comes with free denial of service protection, and an unmetered 100mbps port for VPS.

Immediately change your stance , tell him to buy the terrible prebuilt so he'll learn a valuable lesson.

Vatablous reacted to Mira Yurizaki in How to truly compress a folder
Most likely because the video is already compressed as is. It's hard to compress something even further if it's already compressed.
Think of it this way, let's say you put some fluffy comforters in a vacuum bag. It compresses it quite a bit. But now try getting that to compress even further.

Vatablous reacted to tom_w141 in **WARNING! NEW VIRUS!**
All hardware is vulnerable at a physical level. This was discussed in the thread but i'll say it again for you here: If a person was able to do that then fault would be the security of the vessel and not the OS. Physically interacting with a system will make it vulnerable regardless of the OS.

Also if you don't need smb 1 and 2 , just disable them.
To my knowledge , these viruses still initially get installed by conventional means (like downloading virus exe files from emails) and only SPREAD within a network via the smb exploit.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jun/27/petya-ransomware-cyber-attack-who-what-why-how
I've read about it a few hours ago. It seems it's mostly affecting Ukraine and Russia.
One of the important things to note is that it only needs to affect one machine in a network. Having said that, make sure to update and protect all your machines within your network.
If you get infected with the new flavor of ransomware, IMMEDIATELY ISOLATE THE AFFECTED MACHINE BY TAKING IT OFF OF THE NETWORK. DO NOT PAY THE ASKED SUM.

Vatablous got a reaction from You_are_a_cunt in **WARNING! NEW VIRUS!**
Very recently there has been a new wannacry like virus spreading. It's called 'Petya'. It's based on the same principle as the wannacry virus so make sure your computer is UP TO DATE. Microsoft has solved the original problem that caused the wannacry virus so if your machine is up to date you should be safe. Do your own research! Some have claimed to have found a 'vaccine' for it but make sure YOUR computer is safe!
Stay safe friends.
