I've been eyeing this one!
If your interested in showing it off after you built it, here's a LEGO thread you might be interested in checking out!

I am too stupid to use it lol.
I always love it when people use it because it seems to fluid and intuitive, but for me it's just not 😄
So yeah, I have it on my desk as a paperweight. It's not even plugged in 😄

May I ask what the point of this is? Maybe we already have to result for you so you don't have to bother with it.

FloRolf got a reaction from King_PIN in Show off your Lego!
Hello everyone!
Recently in the "Show off your latest purchase"-Thread there was a lot of Lego stuff so i figured why not make a dedicated Lego thread?
There's one for Cars, Anime, different countries etc. and now this Lego thread is also here to stay!
So now i welcome everyone to show off your old Lego, your newly aquired sets, self build things and even accessories like stands or shelves.
i'll begin with my latest set, which is a Star Wars Snowspeeder. I've filmed through the entire build process (which was roughly 4 hours) and i wanna do a time laps of it. Keep an eye out for that

FloRolf got a reaction from Cysiu in Compute Units in GPU
The Compute Unit (or SM) is just a group of Cuda Cores. In the 3080's case, each SM contains 128 Cuda Cores. 68*128 =8704.
That's how they do the 3090 for example, that has all 82 SMs enabled, which measn 10496 Cuda Cores.
EDIT: The full GA102 even has 84 SMs. So both the 3090 and 3080 are just cut down versions of the same GPU.

I got a lot of things in the mail!
GTX 690 w/o fan - $112
GTX 690 fan - $14
Replacement power cables for my PSU - $15
PCIe 6-pin extension - $4 (NewEgg had it on super duper sale, instead of $13 it was $3, and even though I have a bunch of extra cable I don't mind)
Will post pictures as they arrive! The fanless GTX 690 should be coming tomorrow if UPS is to be believed.

FloRolf got a reaction from Kilrah in I have an iGPU and it has a vram of 1GB. And I need to increase it to 2GB but my BIOS does not have the option. HELP
That's weird because your vram is just dram that is used by the igpu. Naturally windows is smart enough to use dram after your vram runs out. In your case it should just use more dram.
Edit: what I am saying is, theoretically your system shouldn't care whether you have 1gb, 2gb or just 100mb allocated to the igpu as it will just use as much as it needs/until dram runs out.

FloRolf reacted to Blue4130 in Scratch build SFF NAS from old hardware
So I decided that rather than have a bunch of old hardware kicking around, I should put it to use. I've been toying with the idea of a NAS for my wife and I to use. Now was the time.
-The hardware -
CPU - xeon e5 2650
RAM - 16gb (2x8gb) DDR3 Samsung ecc something or other.
MoBo - The most generic Chinese MATX (literally all it says for identification is E5 VER 3.3A)
PSU - 1u FSP 270w
GPU - Kinology gtx750 (ever hear of this brand? Not I)
Case - some wood and hot glue.
Current drive is a temporary 2.5" Seagate 500gb to validate that everything is working. This will be replaced by likely 2 to 4 5tb 2.5" drives using unraid.
The GPU cutout is off by about 5mm, but I couldn't be assed to recut it. I am waiting on a short power extension so I can actually plug it in without running the lead through the IO cutout. I am also tossing about the idea of adding a 120mm fan to the front, but it runs pretty cool as is. It sits at 75w currently. I would really like to swap out the gpu to something that uses less (I really don't need a gpu but I can't boot without it) and I'd like a lower power cpu, but that would mean a board swap, and the point of this build was to use what I had kicking around.
To pretty it up, I'll be wrapping it in grey wallpaper that I have lying about. Jank, but it does the trick.
The total size of the build is 9.7L

No you can't. You need the game on separate accounts (buy multiple times).

FloRolf got a reaction from kokakolia in [Poll] Changing your diet to mostly plant based
eh, i think that's a little small minded. Saying it's the others fault is always easier than changing your own habits.
While China does consume the most Soy, it's not like the others are innocent.
yeah that's whats holding me back too. I'd personally love to go vegan but there's just so much stuff that would be either impossible to replace or would be hard to replace.
going vegetarian was no issue at all for me, i only very very rarely look back. But i just discovered a vegan salmon sushi so the rarely might just drop to zero 😄
considering a huuuge percentage of the "western" population is obese, this would actually be very benefitial for a lot of things. I personally only have a cereal in the morning, then some warm meal for lunch and in the evenings somethig small like bread or a salad. I guess that's fine but you really don't need 2 big meals a day.
yeah my GF sometimes blames me a big because of my limited choices. For example we rarely eat greek because all greek restaurants here are very heavy on meat. However there are many more options now compared to a couple short years ago. Many restaurants now not only offer but also label their vegatarian options now. it actually became rather easy.
sure depends on where you live but like i said above, There are so many possibilies now if you look closer.
Also while the supermarkets here are pretty good for vegetables, i do agree that getting stuff from a local farmer and seasonal is the best option.

yes i agree, i tried the impossible once and it was very good! However i found quite a few good products in the shelves around me that i like, but not many that fully give you the meat feel. Some alternatives aren't a 1:1 replacement but add a little taste of it's own too. You can see that as both good and bad.
That's actually a good point! There are many "Heat and Eat" products with meat but not so many without/with alternative meat. It's also not as easy to grab something "on the go". I mean most burger chains for example offer a vegan burger now but only one and not a lot of variety.
