Contreramanjaro reacted to Wzyss in Transport my PC over short distance safely
With such a short drive, unless you drive like a maniac, I personally don't think it's really necessary to take out the GPU. Though you still should take it out if you have any inkling of worry. Otherwise, just be gentle with it!

Contreramanjaro reacted to someb0dys in I'm in my 40's and I have a brain injury from cardiac arrest and I wanted to ask a question about 20w charging bricks and how to find "real" ones
@AlaskanLost I may be wrong, but the current Iphone 15 supports up to 29 watt charging (Pro Max or whatever that isnt even the 14). You probably can't charge an iPhone in 7 minutes with 29 watt charging. Those charging bricks are probably legit though they can't charge the phone in 7 minutes.

think either the aio wasen't seated properly cause i could unscrew the aio with my hands or the cooling paste was dried out or too much of it cause it was a little dry and also spread out on the entire cpu and a little down the sides of it too
but its now when i stress tested it its now running on a max of around average of 67 C 75-80 C under full load where before max was around 95-100 C average of 90 C

This is a good point. I bought a used PC with an AIO and the block went bad a year or so later. It was an Enermax, so hardly a surprise. I need to fix up that X79 PC... I could find something to with it it.

Which AIO? Maybe it's gone bad.

I was just going to say it sounds like a bad paste job, old dried up paste, or a bad mount.

Contreramanjaro reacted to RWxAshley in Madison reveals experiences working at LMG
It's sad seeing this forum verify all our points with how quickly they are to dismiss the issues we bring up about working within the tech industry as a woman.
Bunch of boys in the boys club debating on which way Madison must of been wrong for daring to bring up something that "isn't a big deal. Just take them out for coffee!"
im so surprised Madison didn't drop a story about being asked to "smile more." Blah

I guess its fitting that someone with the punisher as an avatar has zero idea how the police force and the justice system works in the real world and not just on paper.

Contreramanjaro got a reaction from sub68 in Bluetooth sound quality issue
I discovered it after some very frustrating trial and error. Windows handles it a little better than my work Mac OS computer. I had to sit in noise cancelled silence during a long meeting. No background music.

So, most bluetooth headphones have two modes: a low-latency mode for phone calls/chat, and a standard mode. Smartphones are pretty good about switching between these seamlessly as needed. Windows seems to have trouble with it more. You might just need to disable the hands free version in your sound controls.

That was it! Thank you very much!
I didn't even notice there was a headset or headphone option!

The TP-Link AC1750 might be a good fit for you. It's fully gigabit and on sale. I know it's a little over budget but I think you might appreciate the extra 2.4GHz speed if you're trying to reach upstairs.
And yeah, Fast Ethernet is max 100Mbps, kind of dumb haha.

Contreramanjaro reacted to WereCatf in What is the worst tech advice you've ever recieved?
If your dad learned to use PCs in the 90's or earlier, then that was actually sound advice. Windows used to even have this screen that said "You can now turn off the PC", because there was no way for the OS to turn the PC off -- you had to turn it off from the power-button. Also, pressing the power-button while the OS was running would just immediately power everything off similar to how it'd go, if you flipped the switch on the PSU.

Contreramanjaro reacted to CerealExperimentsLain in What is the worst tech advice you've ever recieved?
This is just how AT computers worked before the ATX standard. 🙂 The power button before ATX directly caused the PSU to shut off. Windows 9X even has this screen for AT systems, for when Windows has safely shut down and to instruct the user to press the power button to electrically turn off the PC.

Contreramanjaro got a reaction from minibois in How can I get two USB sound devices to one headset?
Potentially you could run your PS5 into the line in port on you PC if you have one. I think it's blue on most motherboards.

Some people like illegal immigrants get paid in cash and don't have a card to buy online. They can take the bus or something to meet someone to buy stuff like this on craigslist of facebook marketplace. The fair market value is less important when it's impossible to drive to another city or buy online. There are people that know this and will take advantage of the situation. Whether it will be successful with a CPU is unknown but someone will be willing to try for a week since it doesn't cost anything to list again.
