No benefit = The entire rest of the world needs to adapt to how I do things, speak my crappy and simplistic language, use my nonsensical and stupid measuring system, counting large numbers differently and also breaking the numbering structure, etc. And even if a couple of my own astronauts need to fucking die because all of us refusing to abandon imperial so be it.

Pretty much this, too many tech idiots think they understand biology enough to make absolutes statements.  It's probable much more likely that those claiming they get headaches at a certain FPS are just experiencing a self deluded form of placebo.

Adding more light doesn't exactly help, in some cases that speeds up eye fatigue. For example I can't be in brightly light places at night, my head would hurt and my vision gets blurry and my vision is fine since my last 8 trips to the eye doctor.

Dark themed stuff is generally way easier to look at than a white background searing away your retinas

I have gotten eye strain from looking at my monitor even with lower brightness so I would say I have to disagree. Flux helped alot but dark mode just feels better on my eyes personally.

I am fairly sure Microsoft have been using a similar system for Windows 7 and 8, where your computer is periodically checked if it's running a valid key.

    It happens all the time.
Try swapping out a few components in your PC and you have a high risk of your license being invalidated. Especially if it's something like a motherboard swap.

Considering how often "you can just defer updates" gets brought up as an excuse for not giving users full control over updates, I'd say quite a lot of people use the Pro features (update deferral is a Pro-only feature). Plus, a lot of people use GPOs for things like disabling automatic updates, which is another thing only Pro can use.

Its staggering when you realise just how many old computers are actually still useful if updated to a Linux Distro. Even old Celeron M or Pentium IV laptops.

The thing is that it's very easy for professional photographers or enthusiasts to accumulate thousands of photos in a very short period of time.

I've accumulated 6000 photos of work related stuff since I started this job and that was since January, vast majority came in may to september. That's the drone, the camera and my phone combined.

Personally if I had my own DSLR camera I'd have about 6000 photos a week with the times I leave work. Gotta love sun set lighting.

    Ehm...
Keeping backups on someone else's platform is very strongly encouraged for proper data storage.
How do you back your things up?

No, far from it. 1000 pictures is super easy to accumulate over the years.
If we assume that a person takes an average of 1 picture a day (not that unreasonable, especially not when considering events where multiple pictures are taken, like weddings, when their children are small, and so on) then you'll have 1000 pictures in less than 3 years.

But considering how many pictures are taken just on phones these days, I am sure lots of people, especially parents with babies or small children, can take over 1000 pictures a year.

Travel, Not hard to get 100+ photos in a day.
And yes, 90% of them are good enough to keep, Rest I like to keep it as a record for myself in a few years so I can look back and call them shit or something haha. (And those are the ones I don't upload)

Considering majority of android phones out in the wild aren't premium phones and are budget phones that my mom would buy because it costs $30. Those tend not to last long but premium phones from apple and premium phones running android last about the same (depending on the user.)

Mostly the older ones. The newer models are chugging along pretty well.

The Pixel seems to be suffering from degraded NAND, because the extent of its slowdown seems too extreme to just be software related.

The OnePlus phones seem to be aging quite gracefully on the performance front, however. As performance on Android goes, I'd say they're the closest to the UX performance on an iPhone, sometimes better.

It's hard to self-service your device these days as many are completely sealed up.

The worst example I know of is my old HTC One M7. It was impossible to open up without damaging the rear case.
