getting cheesed in sc2 or playing against a imba race in wc3 is lame for most people.

wc3 is probably still my most played game of all time and im not sure if i want a remake or a sequel.
custom maps made wc3 for me and a ton of other people, im not sure if its gonna get the same amount of support.

    thats never gonna happen.

apm reacted to Master Disaster in [HUGE UPDATE] CS creator held under $150'000 bond under sexual exploitation of a minor - Deemed "Risk to the community"
    True story...

I have an IRL friend, I'll call him Simon (not his real name) who did 3 years in prison for having sexual relations with a minor.

At the time he was 18 and the girl was 15 however he had met her in a pub, a place where you have to be 18 to be in legally, and she had told him that she was 17 (the age of consent in UK is 16 btw). Remember this girl was in a pub getting served alcohol without ID so she looked a lot older than she was.

The girls parents reported him to the police and he was arrested for the offence, while he was in custody the girl attended the police station to be interviewed and during the interview she confessed that it was entirely her fault, Simon hadn't known her age and she had lied to him telling him she was old enough.

At his trial the girls testimony was brought up, it was actually the prosecutor who mentioned the girl had lied and that Simon was not aware of her age and yet the judge entirely ignored her confession, sentenced him for sex with a minor and ordered he be put on a sex offenders register for the rest of his life.

Unfortunately for this dude I don't think it matters that she lied and she has now probably ruined the rest of his life.

apm reacted to GoodBytes in Windows 10 Defender will start removing shady "free PC optimizer" applications soon.
Grrrreaaat now Windows 10 will dictate what I can and cannot run! More reason I want to return to Windows XP.

What happens if I like the program that it wants to remove?
Personally, I enjoy PC Repire Pro Hunter XP Optimizer. I scan, it tells me all the viruses and issues I haves with my PC, I pay the 300 or something dollar after each scan, and it fixes my problem. I don't need to take my computer to GeekSquad and be told by these money grabbing scammers "Oh sir, we need to re-install everything, your computer takes 5h to boot, and one of the fan is barely spinning on your UCP or whatever, and bla bla bla". Gaawdd....it just never ends with them.

My computer works, the software works, what I do is correct, clearly, and I enjoy the best possible computer experience.
Now, they'll start removing programs, like they removed IE, and now I can't enjoy my tool bars anymore.

Ahh those were the good old days! You have everything in front of you....

apm reacted to Derangel in PC Perspective accused of violating journalistic ethics *Update 2 with PCPer reply*
Allyn, the reviewer, is an employee of Shrout Research and wrote the whitepaper. That was not disclosed. It's irrelevant if Intel actually paid for a good review or not. Anything that even remotely appears like it could cause a conflict of interest should be disclosed. Period. I don't believe Intel paid for the review nor do I believe that Allyn writing the whitepaper unfairly biased him towards the product. However, that doesn't matter. All relevant information relating to potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed so that readers are able to make an informed decision on their own. Journalist ethics are VERY clear on this matter. Even accepting products for review is skating on thin ice as far as ethics go and not disclosing that is very much in violation of them.

Here is the code of ethics: https://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp

    Specifically look at "Act Independently"

Allyn writing the whitepaper would fall under the first part of the category. Him being paid to write and whitepaper and then paid to write the review is a clear conflict and should be disclosed.
