the pins won't get bent when twisting the cooler while it is in the socket. have you ever heard of the story about the one twig and it snaps super easy then they take a whole bunch of twigs and that shit is strong as hell? pulling basically makes you pull each twig on its own (while not as bad as twisting a SINGLE twig it is still able to break) while twisting the cooler all the pins or twigs support each other.

https://glitched.africa/news/epic-games-store-spying/ was the issue I was referring to and since it wasn't denied that the code was intrusive and just explained that it was Tim's fault is basically just them putting out a fire in my eyes and don't fully trust it yet. There's also the matter of people that have been banned for simply either using VPN software or just having it open but de-activated while in fortnite. Not really keen on being forced to not use a VPN.

Various security issues with their launcher, instances of the launcher scanning your computer (including your Steam profile) without permission, etc.  There's several posts right here in the Tech News sub-forum to view.  And that's without addressing the lack of proper features, such as a simple cart for purchases on the store.

Why Valve actually gets less than 30 percent of Steam game sales

Keep in mind that Steam has a new tiered fee system by which Valve take 30% from the first $10 million in sales, 25% from the next $40 million, and then 20% percent on all sales after that. So, whatever Valve takes on medium-to-large titles (which are the only titles comparable to titles EGS hosts) is often even less than the article's main point suggests.

And then consider that Steam offers publishers and gamers a huge amount of more features for the money than EGS does, and those features cost Valve money to develop, maintain, and offer the bandwidth for.

Then further factor-in that, unlike Valve's store fee, EGS' 12% store fee isn't all-inclusive. For example, EGS charges extra payment-processing fee in some countries because, according to Tim Sweeney, EGS' 12% store fee otherwise just isn't financially practical.

These are details that Epic's Tim Sweeney doesn't mention or allude to when he tries to hype EGS up and talk about how it's a better deal for developers. In the end, there might be very little difference between the two stores' expenses to developers, while there is huge difference in what features and community experiences those platforms provide their customers, and also in the business philosophy between those platforms: Valve is very pro-consumer, EGS is very consumer-disregarding.

well 280 bucks here in RSA costs a lot more than just that. I'm not american. I just do the basic encoding etc. on my SSD and send them over to my harddrives after my daily work is finished so it's no real inconvenience.

man I got the older X600 series Ryzen 5 and I can guarantee he'll be more than happy with it. recommend it over the 2600 if you go for a X370 board though since X370 boards need a bios update to operate 2k series Ryzen. else go for a 2k series and a X470 board. I went from an i7 5960X to my Ryzen5 1600 and don't feel much of any difference in any of the tasks I do, increase in speed to some tasks (guessing ram speeds have smth to do with that since my Asus Deluxe X99 wouldn't run my 3200 Mhz ram at XMP) He'll most definitely love Ryzen

Buying 2x 2x16GB is better than buying 4x16GB. If one module dies, you can send two models for an RMA, not all four.

Cryptonite reacted to Vejnemojnen in would this cpu work with my motherboard?
Nope. 2200G is AM4. I'd rather sell the mobo and upgrade to B450 with ryzen. Though in that case, you'll need to purchase new RAM-s as well (B450-DDR4, whereas your current board supports DDR3...)

Try to sell your mobo-cpu-ram& buy new B450 with Ryzen and 2x4 or 2x8 GB DDR4 ram with 2933-3200 Mhz frequency..

Cryptonite got a reaction from whismerhill in XMP & how trustable it is (Linus video comments)
Hey man, not sure how correct I am but the way I've always seen XMP was like the RAM manufacturer would test timings and speeds on the ram, find a nice stable speed with good timings for each chip and mark the xmp profile.

like a saved state for the ram essentially. It's probably more like they apply an xmp profile and run it through automated tests in the factory and which tests they pass and which xmp profile they hit stability at would be the different speeds we get? I might be totally off though. but XMP seems to me like a guaranteed state for specific chips to overclock to.

I mean buying a 2400 MHz chip doesn't mean it can't run at a higher speed but it might have not hit the timings the company want the higher speed to run at so it got labled at 2400 MHz / it only passed a certain speed on certain memory controllers but not all of the simulated ones, so a higher speed can't be guaranteed.

That's what I would think goes on. How else would they be certain that a chip can handle whatever it is they put the XMP profile to.

Side note: I recently moved over to a AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (using the Asrock Taichi X470) because my NVME drive had a lot of trouble on my Asus Deluxe X99 board (paired with 5960X) . and it's the first time I'm able to get the xmp profile to run stable without any issues. I could get the deluxe board to run XMP on their latest bios but then NVME would not work at all. I think it's an Asus bios issue for most of their xmp issues. certain timings still picking up as auto or smth else than the xmp profile is supposed to override them to.

if I had any reason to I'd already be rocking a Ryzen cpu and upgrade the cpu later on. However with my x99 mobo and xeon cpu I do not see myself upgrading very soon.

Cryptonite reacted to WereCat in Generation 8 Intel CPUs VS AMD Ryzen
If AMD has at least 3 gen support on AM4 and they can somehow make the newer Zen clock to about 4.5GHz then it is no-brainer (if the price stays as it is or becomes cheaper) because the single-threaded performance will be (barely) enough for 144Hz and also we get ECC support along the way (with some boards).

But that's from my point of view. I don't plan to upgrade to anything as of yet.

I find the Intel 8th gen underwhelming. No real upgrade path in the future once you go for 8700k, that's it. X299 makes more sense at that point if I am to spend €420 for CPU anyway. Also, I get at least Quad-channel support and some other features.
