Only 40 light years away too, so it's fairly close in terms of space.

True that.  However the estimated duration of the trip with current technologies is around 44 million years.  I highly doubt we're capable of even making a ship that would last that long, nevermind supporting 1-2 million generations of people for the duration of the trip.

 

Elon, better up your game, buddy.  We're going to need that warp drive.
