You can use ranges .. for example [N1-5] will put the first 5 characters of the file name.  You can chain them , for example  [N1-4][C][N5-10]   to have new name as first 4 letters, counter, then name from 5th letter to the 10th letter.

Be inventive ... if you can't do it in one pass, maybe you can do it in two passes or something to that effect.

You can also use regular expressions to do search and replace, so that can be something like  search for the minus character followed by one or more numbers,  replace with space or nothing... and the tool would replace / delete sequences like "-12" or "-574".
But you have to read the help section about regular expressions and see the examples there.

Use Total Commander's Multi-Rename Tool ... Total Commander you can download from https://www.ghisler.com

Simply select all files you want renamed , then open the multi rename tool from menu and set the stuff you want to change the names you can add counters, you can search and replace segments (or search for some stuff and replace with nothing, basically delete that stuff)

That's true. Alcohol120% burn apss those protection most of the time. And for the rare case that Alcohol120% didn't work i was using Fireburner.

I'm only talking about games without some crazy protection that needs disk to work.
New games - sure, you can copy DVD to your HDD and install from HDD without even CD/DVD connected. Like GTA5 for example - friend bought it and first copied all disk to HDD then install from HDD without any CD. But maybe some old games might have some special CD protection that needs to have game inserted into DVD reader.

And about "will the game still run by just copy and paste" - if you mean installer, then yes, why not? If you mean installed game... then, surprise, yes, in 95% cases copy whole game directory is enough to play it on another computer (I'm not talking about Steam or other game systems but standalone installations). In almost rest of cases (4%) export one registry key, modify and import on another computer is enough.

I've had some luck with it, but not with all copy protections. You could also try CDBurnerXP.

Gsync is a type of Adaptive Sync that is exclusive to Nvidia GPUs and Gsync equipped Monitors.

G-sync lowers the monitors refresh rate to match the FPS from the graphics card. If you are playing a game and are getting less FPS than the monitors refresh rate, it can look choppy on a high refresh rate panel and you may experience screen tearing. With Gsync enabled the monitor will match the output from the graphics card. This results in a much smoother experience when you aren't able to achieve the full refresh rate of the monitor (144hz).

Vsync is different in that it caps the framerate of the graphics card to the refresh rate of the monitor. This means Vsync is only effective when the graphics card is capable of rendering more frames per second than what the monitor can display. If you're using a 1440p 144hz monitor, and you're getting less than 144fps in games, Vsync won't help.

What graphics card do you have? 1440p at 144hz can be very demanding, and even a GTX 1080ti struggles in AAA titles with high graphics settings.

Older IPS panels had terrible latency compared to TN panels, however with advancements newer IPS panels have improved, but still not quite as good as TN panels. IPS tends to have better colour accuracy and better viewing angles than TN panels. The downside to IPS models is they can be susceptible to backlight bleed and something known as "IPS Glow", which are most noticeable in dark environments or with dark images on screen, though this is a fault of the monitors and you can often RMA it for a replacement if it is particularly bad.

can you try selecting mbr only in rufus? if it doesn't have UEFI that should work better, because it makes it for BIOS only.

I have an alienware aw2518h 240gz g sync monitor.   Unfortunately world of warcraft doesnt allow me to change the hertz in setting so my gsync doesnt seem to work.  I play alot of fps and my current monitor and i will keep it.   So for wow do i buy a monitor or a tv i saw 4k 40-50 inch tvs for under 500$.  Any cons of using the tv vs a monitor at 4k for rpgs..? Any recommendations?

Hmm, yeah ram prices are still bad even for DDR3. In theory you should not mix and match but unless you are doing heavy memory work then you should be fine.

You can buy a random 8GB stick as long it's 1600mhz DDR3 and it will 99.9% be seen as 16GB in total.

    Hope this helps!

    hug0mac reacted to Diabolox07 in Bottleneck Issue/Question
    Hello !
First of all, my English is not the best, so sorry for that ;D
I have a question about bottleneck. I currently have a I5-4590 with a GTX 970, and I want to swap the GTX 970 by a 1070 ti or higher. Will I get a huge bottleneck, if it's the case how many FPS will I approximately lose ? Sure I could by a new CPU but I will also need to change the Motherboard if I want a new 6th, 7th or even 8th gen Processor.
The other question is, do I have to worry about bottlenecking at all ? Sure it's a thing when you are a PC Gamer, but some people are taking it really serious and other don't. So I'm like 'Hey, what do you do now ? Do you buy the GTX 1070ti or 1080 or not?'

    Thanks for all the replies.

Many users seem to not understand video signal out and video signal in. Most laptops do not bother with video in. Just get a used monitor that displays a picture in 1080p. That will be easier for your mind and wallet than to configure up a capture card etc, drivers etc etc things might not work.

There are really decent monitors out there (new) and even better used.

    Hope this helps!

PS I would love for laptops to have inputs on video signals one day...

You might have sata hot-plug enabled, check your bios/uefi and verify that hot-plug is disabled. It is usually a separate option for each sata port.

    1.  Create a Windows 10 USB install using the Windows Media Creation tool.  Create a bootable USB using the tool.
         https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

    2.  Turn off the computer and completely disconnect the HDD.

    3.  Make sure the SSD is connected to SATA port 1.

    4.  Insert the bootable Windows Creation tool into the machine.  Preferably a USB 2.0 if possible.  Some machines don't like booting from USB 3 or 3.1.

    5.  Turn on the machine booting from the USB tool.  You may need to verify the USB as the bootable device in the BIOS.

    6.  Using the USB tool, create your bootable SSD.  You may need to initialize, partition and format the SSD.  If so, all that is possible using the Windows Media Creation tool (the bootable USB you created earlier).

    7.  Once the SSD has been initialized, partitioned and formatted, the Creation tool should continue to function and complete the download and installation of Windows to the SSD.

    8.  After the install of Windows is complete, shut down the machine.

    9.  After the machine is shut down, only then should you connect the HDD to the SATA 2 port on the motherboard.

    10.  After connecting your HDD, then turn on the machine and verify in the BIOS the SSD is the bootable drive C: and your HDD should be your drive D:.

    11.  All done.  Enjoy.
