    • 20xx (i.e. 2070, 2080, 2080Ti, etc.)

    • 10x5 (i.e. 1075, 1085, 1085 Ti (if it were to be a more incremental upgrade to Pascal))

Hello all,

With Nvidia expected to announce their new GPU;s at the 20th of August Gamescom event, what do you think the next naming convention will be?

I think it would be fun to see what most people expect it to be. Speculation has been both 11xx or 20xx, or even 10x5 models that would be more incremental upgrades.

I would personally bet on 20xx, since it makes no sense at all, and Nvidia is known to make absolutely no sense in their naming conventions. I think 20xx, 30xx, etc. also just sounds better marketing wise than 11xx, 12xx, etc.

Happy polling!

I believe it will be GTX 2080 G2 SS X50 Super Alien Tech.

But hey, I might be wrong. :x

(PS: 2080 is what I believe it will be)

Yeah exactly, it has been "leaked" both ways; so many of the leaks are fake. So there really is no way to make heads or tails of the "leaks".

I would say 11x and 20xx are both likely, it just comes down to the marketing...

I would

Would be funny if they surprised everyone by going back to classic naming, 2800 GTX and so on.

I would love that, the more ridiculous the better. Hey maybe they go back to Geforce 1 or geforce 2. Like 180, 170, 180 Ti...

That would be so dumb, but I would not be surprised.

No it doesn't.

An opening slide for the next GeForce series just has to be "GeForce (turned) up to 11" and that'll send people into a storm.

Because they haven't run into extra digits before now. They did 1000 through 9000, then 100 through 900... and are now back to 1000. Question is how they continue, adding hundreds or adding thousands.
