except perhaps from Sony and Huawei. They seem to be the only ones left appreciating battery life. Whilst Sony DO make retard products with 4k screens, they atleast make a "cut down" 1080p model with 3k mAh battery that lasts 1-2 days. Unlike the other turds who go for 1440p Qualcomm hungry-dragon(tm) that lays waste to the battery in hours

If everyone thought this way, that things aren't possible, no progress would be made.  Thankfully, google doesn't hire engineers with such pessimistic attitudes about the advancement of technology.  Here's a newsflash for you sauron , the singularity is coming and computers will figure out chess, star craft, and pretty much anything else you can imagine.

I'd suggest you start being a little more respectful of our future overlords. The baby is in the womb, and when it's delivered and opens it's lungs for that first gasping breath of air, life will never be the same.

Yeah man, on monday I did a "do-release-upgrade" on my Ubuntu Server 14.04 via SSH from 800 miles away WITHOUT FAIL in less than a half hour. Sitting at my windows machine took more than an hour and even then it shit itself adding back useless things I already disabled. come on, Microsoft...

Honestly, the Bash "integration" (it's really a live-translating subsystem) is crap. you have to jump through hoops just to be able to use it, and when you do go to install it, it warns you all over the place that it is still in beta.... WTF microsoft?! I am honestly shocked that something they touted so much and were so proud of in this release they allowed to be released in beta form... that's like ford making a new car and selling it to everyone and saying "by the way, we haven't really finished testing/perfecting this engine yet, sorry"

I think there was a whole lot of pomp and circumstance surrounding this update but it really brought nothing to the table. Most people I know (including myself) use chrome because it's better than Edge and already has the features that microsoft just updated it to have. Bash has existed on OS X since the beginning, and mms/phone integration has existed in OS X for literally years... I'm not trying to start any kind of PC/Mac flame war, I'm just saying microsoft was really proud of this and didn't bring much to the table with it (and a lot of people were freaking out over it for some reason)

I know this. And no, unpinning removes the link to download it. It will be your only option, and it will not be actually installed. Assuming you did click on it and it is install, then uninstalling it, will remove any trace from it, which is the beauty of Universal Apps.

Thats why i talked about Windows10 Enterprise LTSB above.
The LTSB version does not come with all those modern apps bloatware installed.
There is also no Cortana and no Edge included either.
So i´m realy currious how much data collection and telemetry tracking there is still left in the LTSB version without all that crap included.

I agree with your sentiment, but I don't fuck with soy.  Soy is not a proper food, and it's flat out toxic unless fermented.  Considering that soy has become used widely in all processed foods in the U.S. since the early 1990's when, coincidentally, tariffs went through the roof on imported palm and cocunut oils (the traditional processed food oils), I've become skeptical.

Soy is subsidized by the U.S. government. It's a low fat legume but somehow has become the major source of vegetable oil in the U.S.  It's about money, it's not about the health of the consumers.

One more thing I will add: A few decades ago, the "ripe age old" was still quite bad for many people. It depends on what kind of access to hygienic practices and medical care they had available to them. Sure, some lived into their 70's (Socrates lived until 70, but he was executed, and did not die of old age), but not everyone was so lucky. Many lower class peasants and other peoples regularly died in their 30's and 40's.

Just like today, your diet, your hygiene, and your access to medical care largely determine how long you'll live, and whether you'll make it past the "hump" of 40's and 50's into the golden years.

tbake0155 reacted to iHardware Shelden in Overclocking an e8400,Can I/should I push it further?
Push it harder, you should be able to get better than 3.6 at that voltage, I would not recommend anything higher than 1.4v for a 24/7 overclock but it seems you have other chips you could toss in if something goes wrong with that. Personally I would pump 1.5v into the thing and see how far the FSB goes before it either hits a wall or the max overclock stable with prime 95. That's the fun part about the E8400, they can take a lot of volts and get some pretty ridiculous overclocks

I would also recommend if you are going to push more volts to look into a new cooler, also when you push the FSB it will overclock the RAM, I would see about trying 4Ghz @1.3-1.375v and see if you have any luck.

tbake0155 got a reaction from Mobby Dick in Do I have the worst FX-8350 ever?
That sounds like way too little of voltage.  Too little of voltage can cause overheating as well.  You should be able to squeeze out 4.4 GHz I would think.

As for prime95, it's perfectly fine.  I would use a linpack test first because it's faster.  And really it's all about how stable you want your overclock. I have settings for ~4.93 GHz 24+ hours stable in prime95 for my 8350.  For 4.93 GHz I'm pushing about 1.5 Volts through the chip under full load with high LLC.

Keep in mind that my custom loop is about $500 dollars worth of cooling, so not the most cost effective solution.

Also as has been stated, you will see throttling around 70 degrees Celsius. And usually cores dropping out is from not enough voltage.

    @Mobby Dick

I think you should put everything back to default then start over.  Lock in your VID voltage, put LLC on high, then increase your multiplier by one until you start dropping cores.  Then bump up the voltage, test again, repeat over and over!

It took me weeks to find a stable overclock.  It starts out fun, it ends up being a pain in the ass

tbake0155 reacted to Suika in Do I have the worst FX-8350 ever?
    1) No, it's because current versions using AVX instruction sets is a poor method of testing a CPU overclock. AVX requires additional current to the CPU, which produces more heat and voltage than a realistic load would give you. If you go back to version 26.6, sure, but it's not easy to find a download from Mersenne's own websites, so it's easier to just tell newer users to avoid it all together. If you want a steady-state load to verify overclocks, refer to AIDA64.

That's also without mention that because it's an AVX instruction set, overclocks deemed stable in a Prime95 test might not remain stable in ordinary consumer workloads. I've heard of multiple users "verifying their overclocks through Prime95," yet have their CPUs fail to prove stable in more ordinary loads

    2) Intel's own documentation on their E5 processors states that the processors downclock in order to maintain TDP during AVX workloads, Core i processors can barely operate on the stock cooler as it is, not to mention that they don't downclock, allowing an instruction set like AVX to pump more voltage is going to shut the system down for sure. Prime95 testing should not be done on 22nm or smaller built silicon in general tbh.

In truth, the fx overclocked is much more powerful than the i3.  The problem is that to overclock it you need an expensive board and a expensive cooler.  It's a much larger investment.  Also it's a dead end as far as upgrading.

Your better investment is to get a good board for the i3 that will allow you to upgrade later to a more powerful CPU.  Or you could even get a cheaper board and upgrade the entire system later on.  You can get the i3 and a board for the cost of a good am3+ board.

The FX is better now but the upgradeable and cost of a higher end board is not so good so I advice you to get the i3-6100 then upgrade to a Kabylake i7 later? If it fits in the board and stuff... (also for GPU why not RX 480 or GTX 1070?) Also you can recycle board + DDR4...

Fair point. I think if he made the case a little more roomy it would function well. Its a cool idea, I hope he can follow through with it. Water cooling might work with it too, and look a little extra snazzy while hes at it. If he made it in a traditional PC shape he could make one or both of the sides out of clear colored bricks and maybe add some LED bricks too! Its a cool idea, I just dont want him (or her) to have their computer components melted.

Keep in mind it's similar performance at a fraction of the power consumption and a much smaller die.  There's still an underlying technological improvement that will show in terms of performance once the larger die, more expensive cards come out.

You could get R9 290's for around $250 just before the 390 launched.  If you go used you can get plenty of similarly powerful cards for the same or cheaper than the RX480.

For a $200 card it's plenty of performance for people in that price range/performance bracket.
