Saiyan reacted to Levent in Can a bad GPU cause a boot loop?
GPU issues tend to result in no boot situations or boots with artifacts. If your system does not boot with 970 installed, I would either test that on a different system or test your system with a different power supply.

GT 1030 GDDR5 with HDMI and DP  outputs 2x 4K without any problems. MSI and Asus have one.

The GT 1030 can output up to 4096x2160 at 60Hz via HDMI, if memory serves. 2560x1080 should be well within its reach as a basic display adapter.

If you can find a non-scalped RX 550, just to power a monitor, it should do well. Or you could go with an older GeForce card (like a 670)

Its a bad GPU, Ive had this problem myself a while ago. The PC doesnt actually crash itself just what ever is being displayed and with a second monitor going off a diffrent GPU everything is fine on its side. Sadly I was never able to find a way to fix it. Just had to replace it

Yea it's not like you'll be getting small returns from that 3000 series upgrade. You'll be getting a pretty sizable upgrade so I would just get the card, and if needed, upgrade everything else later down the road.

Bottlenecks are just things people say to each other. If you're happy with what you're getting with just the 3000 series upgrade, there's no need to throw more money at your rig. Though you could literally throw dollar bills at it if you have a fetish for that I guess.

Get the card first, you'll still see performance increase from the 970 even if you can't unleash its full potential. Then, I'll save up to upgrade the platform.

Saiyan reacted to RejZoR in If I wanna upgrade to a 3000 series GPU what should I upgrade first on my rig?
You know what I'd do in your case and I will actually with my relatively similar situation? Just overclock that 4790K as high as it goes and only buy RTX 3000 series GPU. You should get like 4.7GHz all core from that 4790K relatively easily. That should be enough even for RTX 3080 imo.

The thing is, that GTX 970 is getting very old and anything you buy, there is no way it'll be bottlenecked so much that you won't see any performance uplift. With CPU upgrade you need to swap whole platform. Meaning CPU, MOBO and also RAM coz you can't use DDR3 with anything newer. That will easily set you back $1000-1200 and you'll still have the old GTX 970! You'll maybe gain 10-20% at best.

Buying RTX 3080 will set you back $700 and the performance uplift should be significantly higher. Hell, you may go with RTX 3070 and still see massive boost in performance from that GTX 970. That's what I'll do. Bolt RTX 3080 on my overclocked 5820K. My prediction is that it'll work fine with it.

depends on how much money you have. I would update your whole platform and get a higher refreshrate display.

Saiyan got a reaction from Drogy82 in High quality youtube vids use more CPU or GPU?
Just wondering if when I'm watching youtube videos in 1440 or 4k with my gtx 970, (No I don't have a 4k monitor but still) my CPU temps shoots up from 33 idle to around 50 in 4k videos. CAM says that my GPU (970) is at 4% load when the video is fullscreen but yet my CPU (4790k) is at 50% load. I always thought that watching fullscreen high quality videos would put more work on the GPU. Just wondering if watching high quality videos like that should be putting more load on my CPU instead of GPU.

"The lawsuit alleges that Cloudflare is complicit in copyright infringement by offering its service to manga piracy sites. Takeshobo and the manga creator are seeking damages, and Takeshobo is also seeking the removal of all its manga data temporarily stored on Cloudflare's servers."

Although what the creator may say is true, I don't think this is going to go anywhere in the end. Although the Japanese take piracy (especially of manga) very seriously, they're fighting a battle that's hard win in this case.

Summery: Due to the heavy amount of pirated content being distributed under the Openload.co domain they have shut down their service along with Streamcherry

My Opinion: The fact that these conglomerate of companies are still trying to bring down piracy like this is a wasted effort. As soon as you shut one down another pops up. A lot of the time these sources give attention to material that otherwise wouldn't be noticed. I'm referring to the fact that these two sources were a big part of anime distribution sites that I frequent and seeing them go down like this isn't exactly making me happy. For the case of anime you are stuck on legal sites like crunchyroll or funimation which don't have catalogues near as big as 3rd party hosting sites. So in the instance (I'll be it slim) that they can't find hosts for videos anymore you're stuck just on what the legal sites want to license, So because of the entertainment I consume I hope that will see new hosting sites pop up to take their place. I don't want to start a debate about whether you think sharing files is legal or illegal I'm just saying I don't want to lose more hosts for content I enjoy, ever driving everyone to go to legal subscription based sites to consume media. Lastly fact that ACE has known-fully taken this as a win in their book is frightening that they're starting to crackdown on it but realistically with how many sites pop up the way they do I don't imagine much can change so quick.

After thoughts: If someone in the comments can elaborate how this ACE has any type of jurisdiction over servers hosted in all kinds of countries that would be great because I don't get how the pecking order works for something like this and how they can force them to shut down.

Worth noting: You'll get a better experience pirating anything Funimation has on their streaming site than actually using their streaming site. I cancelled my subscription to them because it's complete garbage. Poorly optimized, takes forever to load, has annoying Funimation adverts (Because paying to watch on your walled garden means I need to see adverts about the walled garden) and annoyingly always reverted me to Japanese version of shows whenever I came back to the site.

Just complete garbage. Maybe if they spent some money on having a decent streaming service, people would be less likely to pirate. I have 1gbps fiber and their streaming site was still slow and horrible.

With addons, you can minimize it to tray and have controls from there too. Another addon can give you overlay. Or just setup it to show notification or balloon tip when song changes.

I haven't tweaked it in few years (have config and theme saved), so things might be different. I'll check later today.
