Drivers are fine, I'd say just as good as Nvidia's unless you play some very specific games or do content creation (I run both "teams" daily). The 6700 XT is a decent card that outperforms a 3060Ti in general and has more VRAM. It's noticeably worse in ray tracing though, but I personally still don't consider cards of that tier RT-capable so it's not an issue to me...

With the BIOS, I believe that there should be no issues. 12400 has been on the market for long-enough that motherboards sold now should be manufactured later than its release.

As for the drive bay warning - it's not a problem unless you plan on having a lot of 3.5" HDDs. And even for that, you'd have to buy the drive brackets separately if you intend on using more than two 3.5" drives, so this case would've been a bad choice from the start for that.

Yes, but keep in mind that when someone comes to the forum for help, he might not even be aware that there is a good alternative to the 12400. Especially that Ryzen as a whole has not been around for that long relatively to the Intel Core series. I believe it's worth mentioning that there's another option that may even be cheaper OP's country.

So... To sum it up - Fairly low price, surprisingly good RT performance for its tier, but still pretty terrible products overall 😛

Same boat here, 6800 XT and don't actively use any of the extra features that benefit choosing Nvidia. I've tried them out on both just to see but I have no intention of actually using them long term.

But it's also not like I had driver issues with my 290X (in crossfire), or my 6970, or my 4850 (plus older not worth mentioning). I managed to avoid all of the generation that had issues or I wasn't trying to do anything like Eyefinity etc that had tons of problems.

Right now the most annoying thing I have is the two RTX 3060 Ti's in my system with the 6800 XT, the Nvidia drivers keep causing BSOD lol. To be clear that's down to the OC setting and switching between having them applied and not applied but still, not the best experience. Not an issue with just the two RTX 3060 Ti's in the system, only when using both brands at the same time.

I hope this is successful, not for any reason other than we need more competition or else Nvidia will just keep charging top dollar and AMD will follow suit.

I see - well, I'd say that no drivers are perfect because of the virtually inifite amount of hardware & software combinations you can have. I've owned a 660, 970, 980Ti, 1080, 1080Ti and RTX 3060 (mobile) and all of those had some problems with the drivers at some point, I've also owned an R9 290X, R9 Fury, RX 560X (mobile) and the RX 6900 XT now and there were certain problems with each of them as well. AMD has come a really long way since the Catalyst Control Center times and its software nowadays has way better & more modern GUI than Nvidia, doesn't have two separate components (Control Panel & Experience) and doesn't require a mandatory login (like Experience). Their drivers are also unified now for Mobile & Desktop, unlike Nvidia which has separate mobile releases on different dates.

Still - I'm not saying they're better, I'm saying it's just not so cut-and-dried anymore. Now imagine that Intel has yet to go through all those issues and refinements.

Once again, it is time for Google to release new hardware and therefor to hold their annual "#MadeByGoogle" event. As always it will be live streamed to Youtube, aswell as googlestore.com/events if you live in the U.S., Great Britain or Australia.
You can follow the stream here on Youtube:

The following hardware is expected to be released during the event and should be available on Googlestore.com as soon as the event starts:
Google Pixel 7 Google Pixel 7 Pro Google Pixel Watch
We might also receive more information about the upcomming Google Pixel tablet and on top Google has announced to update us on a few smart home gadgets.

Once the event goes live I will start updating the post as soon as I can with pretty new pictures and specs, which, as many of you know, have been already leaked in typical Google fashion. Until the event starts I've prepared some pictures from the previously shown "Design"-videos on Google's YouTube channel to get a first impression of the hardware, if you haven't already.

I know that this is not an Apple event and therefor the excitement factor will likely be lower for many of you, but nontheless I thought I'd put some effort into creating this post as I had quite a bit of fun working on it. I hope I will be able to present you with a nice little overview of what's to come that you can come back to later and refer to.

With the purchase of a Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro, you will receive a VPN at no extra cost.

Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will feature Face Unlock, which according to Google will work with the help of AI machine learning. Both devices do not feature a depth or infrared camera at the front.

Google Tensor G2 is Google's successor to their first generation processor, which now powers Pixel 7 and 7 Pro

With voice typing it will now be possible to simply tell assistant what emoji you're looking for and it will find it for you and insert it. You can for example say "Happy emoji" or "Cat emoji".
As before assistant does also automatically suggest emojis depending on the text you type.

Photo Unblur will be available for Pixel 7 and 7 Pro on Google Photos to, as the name suggests, unblur already existing photos.

10bit HDR video capture is now available on Pixel 7 and 7 Pro

4K 60FPS video recording and speech enhancements is available to all Pixel 7 cameras

Super Res Zoom is a new feature within Google's lineup of computational photography, which improves the picture quality of zoomed in pictures. All technologies combines enable up to 30x zoom with the Pixel 7 Pro.

Zoom Stabilisation enables better stabilisation while taking zoomed videos and a new ML upscaler enables even sharper video and pictures at higher resolutions. (Hard to see on the picture)

Google Pixel 7's and 7 Pro's wide angle camera is now 27% wider and features auto focus, which now enables a new feature called "Macro Focus".

Clear Calling works similar to ANC (active noise cancellation). It will use machine learning to eliminate distracting background noises and enhance the callers voice for a better calling experience. Guided framing helps blind and visually impaired people to take selfies by telling the user how to position their phone. Nightsight, Google's low light camera feature, is now twice as fast with Tensor G2 compared to... "without Tensor G2".

Well, two things: mainly the overall performance... I'd say they were good products if they launched 3 years ago maybe, right now A770 is still 25% slower than an already fairly old RX 6700 XT.
And the other ting is Resizable BAR - it seems like without support for ReBar, the games become unplayable on Arc GPUs due to stuttering issues. And that's only Zen 2 or newer.

My general feelings are very mixed - from one point of view you could say it's not that bad actually, but from another would you really recommend these cards over competing 3060s, 3060 Tis, 6600 XTs or 6650 XT? Not to mention both Nvidia and AMD are right in their next-gen launch window, which usually drops prices of previous generations?

I get your point of view here 😛
The 3060s for under $350 are either open-box or refurbs, new ones start from $349 - a slightly faster RX 6650 XT is $299 brand-new, so even the value proposition is questionable in my opinion if anyone was to recommend the Arc cards... But as you said, let's see how pricing & availability settle down and also how much drivers improve over the next few months due to a larger userbase for bug feedback.

The sad thing is I don't think prices will drop that much this time. It seems like Nvidia is just pricing everything up a whole tier and then some. The "4080" 16gb is $1199 (launch price of 3080ti), the "4080" 12gb is $899, a $199 price increase over the 3080 10gb but really it's a 4070 so actually a $399 price increase. Nvidia is doing what Apple does every year and using their old gpus as part of the lineup. Now the whole "geforce family" "starts at $329" with the 3060 and then goes up from there with a price every $100 bucks or so. $329 3060, $399 3060ti, $499 3070, $599 3070ti, $699 3080 10gb, $899 "4080" 12gb, $1199 "4080" 16gb, $1599 4090. This is EXACTLY what Apple does with it's iphones. The "entry" into the iphone lineup this year is the iphone 12 from 2 years ago at $599. The actual entry to the new phones is the $999 iphone 14 pro as the 14 is literally the same SOC as the 13. It's scummy.

I don't think Nvidia this time around is going to do a "4060ti" at $399 that's ~40% faster than the 3060ti. They just won't. If they do a 4060ti, it'll be like $599. It's gross and very anti consumer

I suppose there are no good solutions here. Are you more comfortable with Apple having your data instead of Google? That's pretty much the only difference realistically speaking... Besides, there's a good chance that Google already has your data so you'd kind of be willingly sharing it with another giant corporation 🙂

Pretty much my experience. A fix is probably possible (although you'll most likely be forced to fix other things that turn out to not work as well), but not really worth the time, and since OP already wanted to upgrade to Windows 11 this is a perfect time for a clean installation.

You can't calibrate it without a proper calibration device like the ones from X-rite. You can try to find an online ICC profile for your monitor made with such device, but remember that each panel is different and it won't be perfect, as it was made to correct certain deficiencies and inaccuracies of a specific unit that was being calibrated. Remember that calibration only impacts color reproduction, it has no impact in gaming use cases.

I suggest you play around with the monitor settings instead, to make it look as close to what you're looking for as possible.
