    If you are recording there's quite a few options but OBS is free.

    1. Cranking the bitrate works perfectly for recording, but Twitch has a maximum injest of 3500Kbps.  I'll show you what1080p60 looks like below.

    2. Hardware encoders are great for recording because you can throw a lot of bitrate at them and not lose performance.  Hardware does not handle low birates very well.

    This VOD is 1080p60 3500Kbps Veryfast, uses around 25% CPU on a 4790K, you can improve quality a smidgen more by going to Faster or Fast but your CPU usage will spike hard

    This VOD is 1080p60 3500Kbps QuickSync, absolute trash but it does well at lowering CPU usage, only 2%

    This VOD is 640p45 3500Kbps Medium and has around the same CPU usage as 1080p60 Veryfast

    This VOD is the same settings but on PlanetSide 2, nearly flawless encode.  Add some overlays and webcam and you have yourself a pretty looking stream

    Downscaling your stream resolution and slowing down your CPU preset has a drastic impact on quality, some games can't even encode well at 720p.  You need to find a balance between Quality and CPU usage. If you downscale too much it will show but if you have limited bandwidth downscaling can be the difference between a pile of shit and something watchable

    On a 1080p monitor, the default Twitch video player size is 1280x720.  Any stream resolution above that will be downscaled, any resolution below will be upscaled.  a 1080p stream uses around 10% CPU to just watch on a 4790k but you need to remember that most of your viewers have potatoes.  That 1080p stream uses close to 30%+

    You, dear sir, seem like a very knowledgeable person. Could you kindly elaborate?

    1) shouldn't cranking up the bitrate take care of the artifacts?
    2) why do hardware encoders look like balls?

    Thanks!

    Edit: I wish that the CoC allowed for "test" streams.

    1) OBS fits your bill quite well - freeware and once you got it setup, you're good.
    2) dunno. but with OBS you can offload the stream to your onboard GPU
    3) i use OBS but there are many out there, I guess it's a question of preference.
    4) again a question of preference and money. Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere etc etc
    5) either embed directly into your recording or use something like audacity, it's freeware.

    Use OBS Multiplatform, you can stream at one Kbps and Record at a different, higher Kbps but you are limited to x264.  It also supports up to 4 audio tracks

    Would it kill you two to NOT quote a massive post...? Nobody should have to scroll this much, and there's others with smaller monitors too.

    Yeah that's what I thought. I'm no expert on this, but in my experience that is not a noise a mic should make... Have you eliminated everything else, i.e. switched usb cable, switched usb port, tried different recording software, maybe a different sound card if you have a spare?

    If you have eliminated everything else, I'd get a refund. My Yeti certainly does not sound like that.

    It really depends on the intended use and what kind of licensing you desire

    Unreal 4 for example is a lot smoother process as far as licensing goes as compared to ue3, but still requires a percentage of your sales, and a monthly fee (might be free now edit yes it's free, 5% of your sales).

    Unity, on the other hand, doesn't require a per sale fee, as far as I remember, it's free, and the pro version is a one time fee. Unity, I remember bieng annoying all-mes based, as compared to Unreal, which is additive or subtractive BSP as well. Unreal is probably much more capable, but unity is easier for single developer project/people with less experience. Keep in mind i haven't messed with either since Ue3 and unity 4.

    Some engines are not even available for direct purchase/download to the general developer/require a contract or something.

    Whatever you intend to use, make sure to completely read everything about the engine's licensing, and contact support for any question you may have. It's very important to know what you are getting into before you start your work.

    M50x. For plane travelling? Are you kidding me? No. Absolutely no.

    OP, I'd recommend something like SE215 and the triple flange eartips. I use westone 4R with triple flange for my daily commute and air travel. The only thing I could hear (or rather feel) is the sound/vibration from the engine.

    I generally don't recommend SE215 but for travelling, the extra bass will help to drown the engine rumble and the negative shape of the iem provides a much better comfort than your usual IEM or headphone for moving or sleeping

    I googled and it seems no post has been made about this just yet.

    So this popped up in my youtube links and I think it's a great idea by Totalbiscuit. Since the tag 30fps is banned it's a handy way of telling whether the game is locked if it gets enough subs.

    He doesn't make any revenue off of it (for people who think this is shameless advertisement/endorsement), so all PC gamers who give a damn about 60fps should follow it
    EDIT;

    Just to clarify;

    The same here. I use digital primarily for paid work, I don't do any wedding jobs so I don't burn through as many shots as some, but I also do a mix of digital and film backs for some paid work - all depends on what I'm trying to achieve.
    I think film vs digital is a moot argument since one can do virtually the same with one or the other, it all comes down to what works for you. There was such a thing as professional photography before the widespread 'pro' use of digital in the early 2000s - as a matter of fact all my favorite photographs of all time where all made on film. And if those same photographers used digital I'm sure they would have created stunning work as well. Never about equipment. Always about the photographer.
