I think I'll get the 212x and place it horizontally and cut the heatspreaders of the ram if needed.
I'm pretty sure the 212x will work for my ryzen pc aswell.

    thank you for the help

I have not thought about ryzen compability.
worst case scenario is that I buy a better cooler. since budget won't be that tight when buying the new pc in a years time

anyway 212x requires an am4 upgrade kit that you can get for free

I found out that the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo will fit very well on my motherboard.

That means I'm gonna buy that cooler now, and then buy a proper noctua cooler when I buy my ryzen pc.

anyways, thanks for opinions and help!

ok, what are you gonna use your PC for? are you gonna overclock or not? do you need peripherals? i'd not recommend custom loop for you as you might as well spend the money on better components

Have you plugged it back into a chassis fan header by mistake when you replaced the thermal paste?

So I got a 1050 2GB for only 90 USD as a christmas gift for my little brother.

He is using my old rig with a pentium g2120, so I was wondering if that CPU will bottleneck the card

    Will it bottleneck hard?

well, the cpu does not take a toll on the graphics card.  that's not how these things work.

and seeing yer other replies on other threads, I can't really say you sound like ye know completely what yer talking about. yer in the ballpark, but even then it's iffy.

MagnusGrønstad reacted to Dabombinable in will a pentium g2120 bottleneck a 1050 2GB?
Long story short, the G2120 is too weak to keep the GTX 1050 "fed", due to the low clock speed (without Turbo boost to help with that as well)+being a dual core+only being 3rd gen. Its weaker than an LGA775 (2007-2009) uad core at 3GHz BTW.

Edit: But it would be possible to get a far better CPU in the future on the same motherboard-one that wouldn't even bottleneck a GTX 1080.....

MagnusGrønstad reacted to Rohime in will a pentium g2120 bottleneck a 1050 2GB?
Probably will, with the CPU trying to run as near to capacity as it can to keep up.
Doesnt really matter though ... even if the CPU is busy you'll get the best possible frames it can support, and you can adjust resolution up / down to balance as much as possible.
At the $90 price point, i'd just plug it in and see.
Dont expect to use on anything more than 1080p/60Hz at best though.

Please just stop. You obviously don't know what a CPU bottleneck is, or how they feel, when your using a powerful graphics card (which the 1050 is).

I recommend that you get a GTX 950 or GTX 750ti for your brothers machine-I'm doing the same for my brother once I can afford it, as the rig that I can give him so far only has an old&slow PCX 5750/FX 5700 to go with the Core 2 Duo E8500 (the FX5700 is terrible for games such as Halo 1 and COD its that bad).

With Asus at least it's built into the motherboard. It's used for troubleshooting boot issues.

Also, it's not annoying, it's a single beep to let you know that post has completed with no errors.

The system is going to run practically identical the only difference being the possibility of a higher overclock on the asus 1060 compared to the msi 1060 and a couple more frames. Both system are quite identical except for the SSD choice and the GPU. SSD would not make any significant difference or anything that you could notice.

You have an overclockable processor (K at the end) but your motherboard doesn't let you overclock on it. You need a z170.

You also are a newbie and idk if you want to make your first build liquid cooled. Just buy an air cooler instead.

You can also buy a cheaper power supply. https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Modular-Warranty-Supply-210-GQ-0650-V1/dp/B017HA3SQ8 will work fine for you for less. You don't need 750w.

HyperX ram is usually more expensive than G.Skill, so if you see something cheaper than what you were getting then get it. Brand name RAM doesn't benefit you.

you don't need anywhere near a 1000W PSU. I can't help you on this problem.
depending on the games you play, maybe a 1060 or 1070?
