Go for desktop. U can build a much better gaming PC for the price of a gaming laptop and gaming PC last longer as they can be upgraded as opposed to laptops which are needed to be replaced as a whole. Of course there are solutions from dell and razer which offer upgradable laptops via external GPU extension (aleanware graphics amplifier and Razer core ) but they literally burn ur money. For the money u can build a sli  or crossfire desktop with much better performance.

Years ago the desktop behemoths had a definite lead in high end performance. But today with full sized components shrinking into those gaming laptops. Its now a matter of how cooling/overclocking/portability matters to you.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

Yes , with pascal ,full size GPUs are included in laptops but they cost like hell. Depends on budget really.

Yeap. Budget is also more flexible on the desktop since you get to skimp on certain parts.

In this age as in right now with the generation just releasing you can get a VR capable kick ass laptop for £1500, and you can also get a VR kick ass desktop for £1500. The new wave of laptops are really upping the ante and its exciting times ahead for sure!

I'm personally looking into the laptop side ATM as doing VR demos and being able to qiickly and easily setup roomscale with a laptop is going to be bonkers awesome and safe me slogging the entire desktop and monitor around places.

cheers,

Lewis

I'm rocking a MSI GT72 Dominator Pro with a full sized 980 for my traveling and encoding/streaming requirements. For gaming/work at home I have a custom beast of a workstation with the center piece being a 5820k @4.4 Ghz, and soon to be GTX 1080. :) They each have their own functions.

So my question to you is this.

Why not both?

Unless you travel for a living a desktop is superior, as i like having peripherals like mechanical keyboards, only few laptops have them!
