Hahaha thanks for the tip I tweaked & figured that out the other night until the forums were flooded with it lol.

My mind blows a bit when I see Ludo (my box,) freak out the way he does when the driver crashes. He just goes complete retard.

zenithar reacted to skullbringer in [Updated] GTX 980 Ti Launch Driver 353.06 Freezing/Crashing
As we all know on GTX 980 Ti has recently been launched and along with it the ForceWare 353.06 driver. This latest driver introducing borderless windowed G-Sync was meant to improve tesselation performance with Nvidia Hairworks and generally improve performance, but has actually been causing games, mainly Witcher 3 to crash for a lot of people running latest Nvidia 900 series cards.

This especially affects people that just bought a GTX 980 Ti, because there is no alternative driver compatible with this newly released card.
But even people running GTX 980's, 970's and even for some weird reason GTX 780Ti's have been reporting issues with their whole system freezing after 5 minutes of gaming.

EDIT: Nvidia has released a hotfix driver, which is meant to address "G-Sync Windowed mode issues" and seems to fix some of the the issues. But windowed G-Sync still crashes the whole system.
Btw this driver can not be downloaded via GeforceExperience, but only from Nvidias knowledge base.

For me personally as a GTX 980 Ti owner, this has been extremely frustrating. Apart from the fact that Nvidia drivers usually are just more of a disease than anything else, with loading times of GeforceExperience and Nvidia Control Panel of more than 5 seconds, this whole GTX 980 Ti launch with a clearly immature driver feels like just a rushed move to beat out AMD on releasing new gpus first. Now, almost 2 weeks after launch, Nvidia still cant get their cards to work properly. WTF?!

What are your thoughts? Do you have similar issues with 900 series cards or The Witcher 3?

UPDATE: There has been no driver update since 353.12, which fixed full screen g-sync with a single 980Ti, but nothing else. Windowed mode g-sync or dual 980Ti's crash within seconds of in-game in Witcher 3. Other games I played so far with the 980Ti like CSGO and Red Orchestra 2 have the same problem, but only at about 5 minutes in game. This at 2 weeks into launch is unfortunately to say the least.

UPDATE: Talked to EVGA support today, no alternate alpha driver. We will need to wait for Nvidia.

UPDATE: If you only have a single 980Ti and if you do not use borderless g-sync, a complete deinstallation with DDU and reinstallation of 353.06 might work for you.

For chrome, I found this fix:

go to chrome settings>advanced setting>uncheck *use accelerated hardware when available* this should be an immediate fix

I am not experiencing the slow start ups on applications.  God, that sounds horrible.

Before I begin, please spare me the NVIDIA/AMD drivers are better/worse crap.  This will not answer my question  .

    This pertains to WHQL 353.06/353.12(hotfix).

Anybody notice that these drivers really make a lot of games pretty unstable or slower than their old setup if you have upgraded to the 980 Ti.  I noticed last night when playing GTA V that my framerate is slower than my old 980 SLI setup.  So many dips in framerates that it created a lot of stutters within the game.  While it is still playable, it was quite annoying.  First I thought it was my overclock but the problem still persists even at stock settings.  I did a clean install of the old drivers just to make sure it was not that.  Installed my old 980 SLI setup and the problem is gone.  Right now I am only experiencing slow framerates with GTA V.

Another problem arises when I run Heaven, Valley, or Firestrike.  It will momentarily pause, black out, and then continue on like their was nothing wrong.  Maybe the drivers crashed or something but when monitoring my GPU speed, it still shows the overclock still at 1451 MHz.  I figured I might as well try with stock settings and the same problem persists.

I would hate to do a full reinstall of windows 8.1 but would like to see what other 980 Ti owners are dealing with.  Hell, even if you are running 900/700/600 series gpu, are you encountering these problems?

Computer specs are in my sig.

Unfortunately, I can't revert back to older drivers because of the 980 Ti and the 353.06 initial drivers

I'm experiencing this exact same issue since upgrading to the 980 Ti on Monday. My rig loads windows usually within 4-5 seconds, & still does, but now applications/task manager/Windows Explorer are deathly slow to respond on start up. Event logs say error with kernel pnp, drivers here & there. All related to NV's latest driver one way or another.

I'm really tired of the screen going black while using Chrome when the driver crashes, & the only way to get it back on is to reset & pray, or clear CMOS. -_____- This really is so ridiculous. Nvidia, stop acting frail.

Who wants to look at a photo on a 1" screen? Who is going to use the haptive feedback messaging app after a few days? it's just like that gimmick siri, at least cortana is helpful on windows phone. And really, apple? They love to say they are "innovative" and "refined" and then they dump a square screen on a smartwatch. This ain't 2013 apple, wake up and realise it's round that people want, at least be modern and not use 2 year old designs.

It's ugly, overpriced, has unnecessary features (photo app?) and only works on iOS products, which makes it useless for me.

Ctrl + T opens new tabs, we know that.... but did you know, Ctrl + SHIFT + T opens the last tab you closed? It also remembers all the history of that particular tab, so you can rewind those as well. And it can also be used to re-open more than just the latest closed tab. Truly a wonderful command!

Ctrl + B is used to save a document.... except in paint and notepad. Those use Ctrl +S. Why, I don't know...

F6 quickly selects the page link. O>O.

    Depending on the particular text editor, Ctrl + Enter can allow you to jump lines, instead of actually being a "go" command. In LTT foruns, if you'd like to do this;
    Here's a line

And here's a jump, without going into.. number 2, .... all you need to do is hold Shift + Enter.

heck if asked if I'm willing to buy those 50,000$ watches I'd say no I'm good with those cheap 5$ ones that I can buy locally. but If I were asked if I'm willing to spend 50,000$ on pc to go balls in the walls I'd probably do it so long as it looks pretty and my wallet can afford it which is not the case.
