How often do you upgrade?

I usualy do it every 4-5 years and that includes the CPU, mobo, GPU, probably the PSU and if I get tired of my case that as well

5+ years or when I can't play the game I want anymore. My last upgrade was E8400, hd7770, 3gb ram to current specs because I didn't get enough fps in CS:GO.

I'm bad, I do it whenever a new GPU comes out and sell my old one. Always get the highest tier now a days.

3-5 years...I use my hardware until is it is pretty much obsolete.  I don't upgrade/replace when something new comes out.

When what I have no longer performs at a level that I am happy with, or when replacement pats are literally more expensive than an upgrade (laptops generally). 

 

That said, I generally stay on the same motherboard through several upgrade cycles, maxing out the CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, and PCIe possibilities before building anew.

Nobody's answer's are gonna help you. Or, rather, shouldn't. The reason I say that is because everybody's different. People spend their money on different things, at different times, have different wallet sizes, etc. Enthusiasts, for example, upgrade every 6-12 months. Not because it "needs"the upgrade, they just want it.

 

Then there's a hundred more factors such as the use/workload of the machine.

And also, reason for upgrade.

...Aaaaaand some people upgrade part by part every few weeks/months, so it's not really an "upgrade" in the way you mean it.

 

 

Sorry, although that ended up sounding like a mean troll - I'm sure you know it wasn't. Just being honest & realistic with you.

My point in all that is - do what YOU feel is right. Do you think you NEED to upgrade? Are you bottlenecked? Do you have money burning a hole into ur left buttox? Etc!

I'm still in the process of slowly upgrading my PC, so I buy something new every 6 months at least.

I probably won't upgrade from entire system (case and all) for 5 years or so.

Something every year. Per part the cycle is 3-5 years. From the 2008 of the first edition of this built it has been 2&3 years for storage and OS, 4 years for case, 3&? for GPU (last upgrade 2011), 3&? for PSU (same time with GPU), 3&2 for CPU (to note, first was from dual core to quad core of same socket), 5 for mobo and ram. Looking to be 7 years for sound card.

When I was younger upgrading was a big deal and happened years apart. Now it's piece by pieces multiple time a year.
