I kinda agree with you. I don't like the fact that the spying does exist but honestly you can't really escape it, it's inevitable in this day and age.

I really don't care about the whole spying thing. As long as it doesn't go too far I don't care.

Emil reacted to GoodBytes in "Windows 10.1 beta" - New memory managememt: live compression/decompression - RAM usage may fluctuate. Beta testers enjoying it now.
Microsoft details its new improved memory management that is coming up in the next version of Windows 10. We don't know if it will part of 10.1 officially, but as it is a big feature, it is safe to assume so. Currently, Windows Insiders on the Fast ring are using it as we speak. The early release is probably due to ensure the most testing is done. Already, it is known that Google Chrome 64-bit specifically, crashes due the new memory management. Microsoft already warmed Google about it to work together in solving the issue, but we know no details if Google has responded.
The new memory management system allows Windows 10 to run better on a system with low amount of memory. The target is low cost systems with low memory, old systems, and smartphone running Windows 10.
It works by detecting when you are low in memory, and when you are it will compress in place unused for a while pages (program memory) in place (for maximum performance), instead of moving it to disk pagefile. The problem with secondary storage (HDD/SSD), is that those are way slower than your RAM. So avoiding it, keeps the system operating faster. When a program is which its memory pages where compressed is accessed by the user, Windows decompresses it, once again in place.
As a result of this behavior, expect Windows processes and your programs memory usage, to fluctuate on the task manager, and CPU usage may increase as it decompresses/compressed your pages, which should be visible when you ate getting close to low memory (memory pressure). Doing so reduces disk read/write of disk, and increases system responsiveness.

I figured that I would share my success story real quick. So I decided to get a NF-A14 PWM for Corsair TX V2 850W, run the fan connector to my motherboard and it worked great! This way I can monitor the fan speed and adjust it using the rudimentary fan curve in my BIOS.

Emil reacted to Mbarton in Twitch:Reduced Stream Delay Option is LIVE for All Broadcasters
So i just got a email form twitch saying with a simply toggle button in setting broadcasters can now reduce the stream delay by 33%

All i can say is Finally!!!!!!

"Beginning today, all broadcasters will have the option to reduce stream delay on their broadcasts via an on-off toggle in Settings. Enabling this feature reduces delay on average by 33%.
How have we reduced the delay? We’ve successfully cut the video segment size from four seconds to two seconds, which decreases the amount of video that is stored in the processing pipeline. If you’re a broadcaster who spends a lot of time interacting with chat, this new reduced delay option means you’ll spend less time waiting for replies.

You can enable this option at any time, but it must be turned on prior to the start of your broadcast to take effect.

We’re releasing the reduced delay beta as an option to broadcasters because it does come at a small quality of service cost – particularly to viewers with poor internet connections. Some viewers may experience changes in playback, with shorter, more frequent buffering times. Because less video is queued on a viewer’s computer, they will be more susceptible to variations in download bandwidth, and may experience more interruptions in service while video buffers. Rather than require every channel to switch to the reduced delay option, we’re leaving it up to the broadcaster to decide what is best for his or her community. If you spend a lot of time interacting with chat, a decreased delay may be incredibly beneficial to your community."

EDIT: Thanks for all the likes guys! Hopefully Linus or someone from LMG will read this and this will make Linus keep his build. Even if the goal of 100k is made we should convince Linus to do another build maybe, with signatures from the whole LMG family and maybe even his wife. This would let Linus keep the build he has with the special case his wife gave him. Besides, his personal PC would be more special to him than us.

Some good discussion in here, but I really don't like the way the OP was personally attacked. Everyone in this community is welcome to voice his or her opinion about the content we produce at Linus Media Group because that's how we improve.

With that said, the mix of low end to high end productsf is unlikely to change anytime soon, and the reason is that people are only interested in watching something new, and there's simply no innovation in the space.

How far back do we have to go to find a $100 graphics card that wasn't rebadged?

How far back do we have to go to find a $40-50 CPU cooler that performs any differently than every other $40-50 CPU cooler?

Why am I not making videos about this stuff? Because it's BORING AS ALL HELL. The cost reductions that these companies are achieving through better manufacturing are being offset by the ever increasing cost of raw materials, so that's why we end up with effectively the same price and same performance year after year after year in these commodity categories.

I actually just had a meeting internally and we're killing off all-in-one liquid coolers as a review category unless someone comes up with something truly special or that we haven't reviewed before (like a triple 140mm or something). Why? Because I'm bored of them, and apparently so are you:

That video has lower engagement, and lower views than most of what we've released in the last month even though it's a solid cooler.

The way I see it, my job is to make entertaining videos about interesting tech. You might not personally have any use for a smart baby monitor or a triple 34" Eyefinity setup, but did you watch the video? Was the tech interesting? Were you not entertained?

Emil reacted to jadar in Apple removes TRIM support for third-party SSDs with OS X update
This is not new news. Apple never did support it natively. The TRIM Enabler software actually modifies the binary to the driver. This is why the fix does not work with Yosemite. Because Yosemite has driver signing. Only signed drivers will run, and by modifying it you make the checksum change and thus it fails to load. The workaround is to just disable driver signing with a simple boot flag.. "kext-dev-mode=1" TRIM Enabler will even set it for you. We've known this since July when the beta came out.

Recently, the W3C has officially recommended the whole HTML5 standard as a specification for browser vendors and other interested parties. It is final. It is complete. Future work will now be rolled into HTML 5.1, which is currently on "Last Call" and set for W3C Recommendation in 2016. HTML 5.2 will follow that standard with a first specification working draft in 2015.

The main reason we removed the viewability of other First Blood badge holders is that we didn't want it to turn into an ego measuring contest for "who has one and who doesn't" and it felt like having a centralized list would increase the risk of FB members turning into a clique or something.

If people really want to know how much support we get during the First Blood campaign, I don't mind updating at the end along with a rough outline of our plan for the money whether it's to use it to buy products that we can't get samples of (a big problem for us right now is we have a limited number of manufacturers that seed us with stuff so our content can get unbalanced that way in the long term) or to get some new equipment.
