JJVGaming got a reaction from thDel in What percentage of a budget should be spent on each component in a build?
Lets say the gaming build is aprox $1050, and that $1050 = 100%
GPU = 35% to 40% $400
CPU = 20% to 25% $200
MOBO = 8% to 10% $95
RAM = 8% to 10% too $105
STORAGE (Including HDD and SSD) = 10% to 12% $130
Case = 6% to 8% $70
PSU = 6% to 8% too $60
You can see that the bulk of your money is mainly spent on both processors, and other things after this is usually 8% to 10% of the budget.

480. Easy pick, since the performance is still great and you have a Freesync monitor.

Well I have a gtx 1060 and I don't plan to do multi gpus for my next upgrade so think I should be fine.

JJVGaming got a reaction from Damascus in Ryzen 3 a bit pointless?
if I wanted to upgrade my CPU to something newer and better, I wouldhave to cash in $200 on a new motherboard and memory not including the CPU. Like for me example, I have a locked i5 on a locked motherboard and im planning to upgrade... but I have to now buy for at least $400 a newCPU+motherboard+ram. Lets say if I have ryzen, I would only to pay 200 +- for a CPU. If i was budget oriented, investing on ryzen would just be a cheaper investment and I wouldnt have to pinch as much pennies to get a whole new platform

Yeah, as far as I can tell a ryzen system with really fast ram will get sky/kaby performance but without it hts right on haswell.

JJVGaming got a reaction from NoxiousOdor in Is it worth it to get a asus 980ti strix for 360usd?
Yeah I would go on craiglist around your area, for example here is a 1070 for $180 in seattle https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/sop/6212089346.html
Make sure if you use craiglists that you go to public places tho

JJVGaming got a reaction from NvidiaIntelAMDLoveTriangle in AMD Radeon RX VEGA to Launch at SIGGRAPH 2017
Dissapointed, really. AMDs obsession of using HBM2 on gaming PCs is really digging them a hole in the high end market of GPUs. The VEGA delays basically prompted everyone to buy 1070s/1080s/1080ti and when VEGA actually comes to the market, VOLTA well come out soon which will most likely offer 20% better performance than top end single GPU VEGA, again it will gtx 1070 vs fury x all over again. Sucks that many people expected VEGA to launch right after Polaris, and it has already been a years since Polaris was announced

JJVGaming reacted to ColdSteel in Surface Pro 4 For Students: 4gb vs 8gb RAM?
Get a laptop. That you can put on your lap.
Is there a reason you need a surface? Do your draw? Otherwise a laptop will serve you much better.

JJVGaming reacted to STRMfrmXMN in FSP HYPER S 700W
If you haven't built this yet then be sure to get a Ryzen 1600 and a B350 motherboard rather than the really now value-poor Core i5. Then get at least a 120GB SSD.
The FSP Hyper S is probably fine but you don't need 700W and I'd advise you get something cheaper since even 3 1060s in SLI (not possible, I know, but you get the point) wouldn't consume 700W. The Corsair CX450 would be fine for you.

JJVGaming got a reaction from Kragos in What am I looking for when buying a graphics card?
This is how it goes:
Example: NVIDIA GTX 1070
the "10" means its the "10th generation" for NVIDIA while the "70" represents the level of the card. "GTX" usually means its most likely a gaming card while "GT" is either for low end or budget GPU
So what does this mean?
For example, even though GTX "1060" is a bigger number than GTX "980 ti", this does not mean its a higher performance card (spoiler alert, 980 ti is faster than 1060 )
Sometimes these numbers can overlap, however. For example, even though the GTX "1070" is a "70 performance" card, its more powerful than a GTX 980, a "80 performance" card.
What will always happen though is that if two cards have the same "performance number (e.g: 50 performance), but one is a newer generation (9 vs 10), the newer generation card will always be faster
For example:
GTX 950 < GTX 1050
Or
GTX 970 < GTX 1070
For around 10 years or so, this is the basic lineup from NVIDIA:
200 series, 400 series, 500 series, 600 series, 900 series, 10 series
While this is the basic performance for measurement from NVIDIA:
10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80
ALSO, if you see a "ti" after than name of a video card, it typically means this
1080 < 1080 ti
1050 < 1050 ti
TI cards are always have more performance than the card with the same performance number and generation number
Also, if you ever see the name "titan", avoid these cards at all cost, because they are usually only for bragging rights, and are twice as much as an "80 performance Ti card" but only offer 5% more FPS (this is usually like 1 to 5 more FPS)
_________________________________________________________________
FOR AMD cards:
AMD RADEON RX 480
AMD follows the same basic concepts as NVIDIA, the "4" represents "400 series" while the "80" represents the performance level. Also you will notice in some AMD cards, prior to the number their is usually an "r(number or letter "x")", like:
R9 390
r5 = Budget GPUs
r7 = lower end GPUs
r9 = midrange and high end GPUs
Recently, AMD has changed this with "rx" with all 400 and 500 series cards, so the above system doesn't matter anymore.
AMD from the last 10 years:
4000 series, 5000 series, 6000 series, 7000 series, 200 series, 300 series, 400 series
while AMD typically as of the 200 series and above has performance numbers of
30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90
DO note that AMD now names their highest END GPUs differently as of now, for example their latest high end GPU is called an " r9 fury X", not following the same number scheme as lower tier GPUs. There next high end GPU will follow suit most likely (will probably be called RX Vega (insert tier here)
