So im deciding to get a gtx 1070/1080 but im having a hard time to decide to get i5 7600k or ryzen 5 1600x. I will be doing games but also video editing and rendering. While an i7 would be ideal, i am not interested in spending over 300 on a cpu

Should I air cool it or liquid cool it?

Liquid cooling has alot of advantages but i am scared of the leaks and damages that can happen and that air cooling is cheaper

Ryzen for sure. Just use the stock cooler, it can more than handle the chip.

Air is fine. Nice air coolers cost just as much as liquid ones ;)

This

Since im really new to pc gaming, is ryzen 5 1600, ryzen 7 gonna be worth going with over intel i5/i7?

Many of my friends tell me: "no bro just go with intel. amd sucks and intel has more support" but the ryzen specs really appeal to me

Thats just dumb

Ryzen is an x86 processor, Intel Core CPUs are x86 Processors. They literally do all the same things without exception.

Technically Intel will give you better single threaded performance, but if you do more than one thing at a time on your PC Ryzen is your best bet. You will still get great gaming performance from it and its cheap.

Yes the Ryzen 5 would bottleneck a 1080, you should get something like the Ryzen 5 1600 for decent performance in gaming at 1080p. Any higher than 1080p and the bottleneck is negated.

At 1080p, yes. At 1440p or above, no. Also, dont get the 1600x, save some money and get the 1600 and overclock it.
Also, for Ryzen CPUs you can overclock it just fine on a cheap aircooler like the Hyper 212 or Cryorig H7

Just making sure no one is saying a I5 as digital foundry did a video proving the 6 core ryzen is better at gaming OC vs a OC i5

Those would do better but if you were going to get a 1060 I would get an RX 580 instead although the pricing on them is all jacked up atm.

Ryzen 5 1600 overclocked to 3.75 ghz on the stock air cooler is probably the best deal for you.
