is it normal for a 8 gb to have 4.8 gb available?

i was looking ant my ssytem information and it says that i only have 4 gbs available in a 8 gb ram stick

Usually no, unless the system is using 4GB already and available means free not total memory.

it says installed physicall memeory is 7, total is 8, and free is 4.87

That's normal, it just means the system is using memory, that is what's there for after all, we are human, after all

Do you have like idk an iGPU or APU as your gpu? Meaning a non-dedicated GPU without it's own VRAM?
