This. I have a dedicated drive only for games that i dont regularly back up. I think its about 1.5 TB or something. As you dont have to reinstall games after a clean OS install if using steam everything just stays there until... well... the drive dies.

If they say it does not fit, it probably doesn't. They actually know what they are doing.

    Hi Alex,

In my experience, Speedfan is the most userfriendly software to control your fans.
I suppose the posted tutorial should cover at least the basics. Didn't watch it though.

But you have to know, that it depends on your type of fans. It might be impossible to control them via speedfan. In such case, a hardware fan controler like the one mentioned in the previous post might be your only possibility.

Not necessarily. A Live-CD is basically a CD (or USB-Drive) that contains a complete operating system. Almost all Linux distributions are able to do this by simply burning the iso to a CD. With this, you can boot another operating system that is not installed onto your local harddrive and thus rule out issues that come with Windows drivers.

He basically already said it: The tool is called "Magic Wand" and it selects everything that is a certain color. There is a slider called "Sensitivity" (I think) that determines how much the deviation of the clicked color may be whereas 0 only selects the exact color and 255 selects everything.

Google should tell you the rest

    Hi,

It certainly depends, if chipset drivers and the lot are the same it MIGHT work out of the box.

This is however NOT the case in most situations. It is far more likely that windows just plainly refuses to boot properly as this is quite a significant change in hardware specs.
The least thing that is going to happen is that you need to reactivate your version of Windows.

You should almost certainly plan in half a day of fixing issues even if Windows boots after the change. The better solution is clearly to just reinstall Windows after the hardware change.

As always I strongly recommend a proper backup of all your data before trying anything.

However, the data on your harddrive is unaffected by this change. Even if Windows refuses to boot you can always just boot from anything else and access your data as usual.

    Regards

Lorunification got a reaction from Lays in [Tutorial] How to make your 900 Series Video Card have a 0% fan mode!
Thanks. I have mine spinning up at 60° and have a hysteresis of 15° so the fans only stop once the card cools down to ~45°. That prevents a "stop-and-go" state when hovering around 60° - which usually happens with fans on during gameplay. Additionally the card cools down a little faster after it was under load.

At idle (browsing, youtube, ...) the temperature is around 35° - 40°
The card currently sits in a Carbide 500R with meshed sidepanel. I will, however, mod the panel and replace the mesh with acrylic glass soon. Will see how that affects temperatures.

Here ya go, I've been slowly changing it to see what the best setup is for passively cooling in 90% of games + desktop, it appears that ~66c is around the magic number if I use V-Sync in the game, but I'm still fine tuning.

My new case shows up later today, so I'll do more experimenting then. (Air 540)

    Hey,

Sorry for the bad choice of words. Of course the i7-4970K and the GTX 750 are compatible. What i meant is that the Intel i7-4790K is an up-to-date high end CPU while the GTX 750 is a mere mid range GPU from the last generation. But if you plan to upgrade the GPU later on that is totaly fine and you can just ignore what i said before.

What we are trying to say is if you don't plan to upgrade your GPU it would make sense to save a few bucks on the CPU and spend this money on a more potent GPU. This would result in an overall better performance for gaming. You could (as Epic_Nex mentioned) switch in a i5-4690k. Totally fine for gaming and video editing, too.

Just stick with your curret SSD, if space is not the issue. You're not gonna notice the difference, if you upgrade to a different SATA drive.
So either upgrade, when you need more capacity or when sata-express becomes mainstream.
